Son, Other-powered. Grasping the appearance of water as real water and labeling it as such is the completely imputed. That water is eternally separate, like the thoroughly established, and is shown from the perspective of the appearance of non-veridical complete imputation. As mentioned before, these consciousnesses, merely the nature of consciousness itself, are wrongly and completely grasped. Establishing the existence of the grasper and the grasped as things, being encompassed by non-veridical delusion, external objects do not exist. Furthermore, the consciousness that appears therein is mistaken, and the place where it appears as a thing is the nature of the other-powered that is established as such in appearance. The completely imputed is that although things like form do not actually exist, only consciousness appears as a thing, and it is grasped as actually existing. The thoroughly established is that in the nature of the other-powered, the nature of things other than mind is completely non-existent. The meaning imputed by discrimination, the nature of complete imputation, discrimination is other-powered, its emptiness is thoroughly established. Thus it is said. Body. The consciousness consumed by embodied beings is the six inner elements such as the eye. The consciousness used by it is the six outer elements such as form. The consciousness that uses it is the six elements such as eye consciousness. The remaining consciousnesses should be understood as the detailed classification of these consciousnesses. Since there are no external objects other than these consciousnesses, it is only consciousness. What example is there for this? Like dreams and so on. In dreams, there are no things, only consciousness itself. Just as forms, sounds, smells, tastes, tactile objects, houses, forests, land, mountains, and other various things appear, everything should be understood as only consciousness. The word "etc." also includes illusions, mirages, and cataracts. If, like dreams and so on, everything is only consciousness even when awake, then why can't one know it that way when awake, just as one knows it is only consciousness in a dream? It is precisely because those who awaken from delusion by knowing this will know it that way, just as those who are dreaming do not know it until they awaken, but those who awaken do know it. How should those who know this but have not awakened infer it as only consciousness? Through scripture and reasoning. The scripture is that the Bhagavan said in the Ten Bhumi Sutra, "The three realms are only mind." And in the Samdhinirmocana Sutra, after Maitreya asked, the Buddha taught, 'The image of the object of meditative absorption...'

Mind and consciousness are not different, consciousness is distinguished only by the distinct cognition of objects. Thus it is said. If they are not different, how does this mind grasp that mind? The answer is: Maitreya! In reality, no dharma grasps any dharma, but in whatever appearance, whatever mind arises in that way, it appears in that way. Thus it is said. For example, due to the cause of internal form, although one sees the form itself in a mirror, one thinks one sees an image. In this case, the appearance of the form and the image seems to be different in meaning, but in that, the image itself does not exist, so it is not different. Similarly, the mind that arises in that way also appears to be different in meaning from that. This scripture also shows the reasoning. Just as in the mind of meditative equipoise, the images of knowable objects and so on appear separately, so what is seen is the appearance of one's own mind, and there is nothing else. Thus, one should measure that all appearances are only consciousness. The separate appearances and so on should not be the consciousness of remembering what was seen before, because the object is clearly presented by the direct perception of the mind. The consciousness of memory arising from hearing and thinking is focused on the past. Although the past does not exist in reality, its appearance is also only self-awareness and consciousness. If the forms such as eyes are only consciousness, how do they exist in the same form and constantly? The answer is: Because they exist as the basis or cause of all afflictions such as inversion, they appear constant in this way. If the eyes and so on are not constant in this way, the appearance of external objects will not arise, and if they do not arise, they will not be defiled by the two obscurations of grasping the grasper and the grasped, and if they are not defiled, liberation from the two obscurations or purification will not exist at all. Although it does not exist in reality, delusion and liberation are reasonable because such an appearance exists. The cause of delusion and delusion are, established as the consciousness that appears as form. If there is no such consciousness, there is no consciousness that grasps non-form, and there is no other form. Why do the body and the profound consciousness of the embodied, and what is used by it, and the consciousness that uses it, arise and gather simultaneously in all bodies? The answer is: Where it arises and near it
