I am not the object of either of those two. The object of nirvana, even for those remaining in nirvana, cannot be a place of dwelling. Nirvana is not included within the scope of objects. 7. Furthermore, when those who have performed good deeds or evil deeds are about to die, the warmth gradually disappears from the lower or upper part of the body, but it is impossible to be without the alaya-consciousness. At that time, even though there is consciousness, the abandonment of the body is the alaya-consciousness. Thus, all the defilements of birth are impossible without the all-seed alaya-consciousness. If those who enter into consciousness cannot have worldly purification, it is because they have not separated from desire in the desire realm and have not attained the mind of the form realm. When the virtuous mind of the desire realm strives to separate from desire, that mind which arises from the striving practiced in the desire realm, also arises and ceases simultaneously with the mind practiced in the form realm. Therefore, it cannot be influenced by this, and thus it does not transform into a seed. The mind of form realm practice, which has been interrupted by other minds in many past lives, is also considered by the Sutra school to have ceased and no longer exists. Therefore, it cannot be the seed of the mind after meditative equipoise. Likewise, all seeds of detachment should be applied according to what is appropriate. Therefore, that which comes continuously from one to another, the all-seed fully ripened consciousness, is the co-emergent cause of the mind of meditative equipoise practiced in the form realm, and the virtuous mind arising from striving is established as the dominant condition. Similarly, worldly purification also cannot be without the all-seed fully ripened consciousness. As the Buddha said, true view arises from relying on the sound of others and from the cause of each individual's appropriate attention. If it is said that the attention based on the sound of others influences the ear consciousness or the mind consciousness, or both, then appropriate attention does not arise in the ear consciousness, and the mind consciousness is also interrupted by the distraction of other consciousnesses. When the mind that is in accordance with appropriate attention arises, at that time, if the habit of hearing that has influenced the mind consciousness has ceased together with the habit and has been gone for a long time, then from what will the seed of the mind that is in accordance with appropriate attention arise later?
