As soon as it ceases, the existence of the next life is established, dying and connecting like the high and low of a balance. The being abiding in the intermediate state generates desire for the place of birth, and other afflictions such as hatred and pride become conditions. Accompanied by desire, the existence of the intermediate state ceases, and a sticky consciousness arises, which is the alaya consciousness of maturation. After that, as it is said in dependent origination, the four modes of birth, namely, egg-born, womb-born, moisture-born, and miraculously born, the faculties become manifest and accomplished. What is the truth of the origin of suffering? It is affliction, and the karma arising from the power of affliction, which is contaminated. If so, how did the Buddha teach that craving itself is the origin? This is the main teaching. The Blessed One mainly taught craving because it goes everywhere. What does it mean to go everywhere? It means going to all things of objects obtained and not obtained, craving for what is obtained, rejoicing in what is obtained, and going to all states of the three sufferings and the three feelings. For the suffering of suffering, craving desires separation from what has been obtained, and desires not to encounter what has not been obtained. For the suffering of change, or pleasant feeling, craving desires not to be separated from what has been obtained, and desires to encounter what has not been obtained. For the state of the suffering of conditioning and equanimity, there is the craving of ignorance, because it is the place of affliction and is distinguished by equanimity. In particular, the alaya consciousness is the state of the suffering of conditioning itself, and it should be known that craving arises from ignorance of self. It goes to all three times, following with the aspect of looking at the past, following with strong attachment to the present, and following with the aspect of manifest joy to the future. It goes to all the realms of desire, form, and formlessness, and it goes to all feelings, suffering in the three realms by seeking desire and existence, form and formlessness, and by seeking wrong conduct, one is not liberated from samsara, but revolves in it. The craving for arising and ceasing is constant.

Because it possesses the present aspect, it goes in all aspects. What are afflictions? They are number, nature, arising, object, association, names, wrong conduct, realm, category, and abandonment, which are also regarded as afflictions. The number is six or ten. The nature is non-peacefulness. That is also sixfold: non-peacefulness due to distraction, due to inversion, due to excitement, due to dullness, due to carelessness, and due to shamelessness. Arising is the three, such as not abandoning latent predispositions. The basis of afflictions is also the object. All afflictions also take all afflictions as their object. Ignorance, view, and doubt, the three, take the higher as their object. Others do not take it as their object. Higher afflictions do not take the lower as their object. The object of cessation and path is merely that it completely distinguishes them; it is not actually taking those as their object. Afflictions that take as their object that which has no basis are those that are associated with view. Other than that, they take as their object that which has a basis. All ten afflictions are also the cause of suffering and origin, and those two are also the place of basis for those. Therefore, they are called the reversed discriminations of cause and place of basis. Association is proficiency, entry, comparison. The names of afflictions are from fetters to forest fetters, proficiency, entry, comparison. What is karma? It is briefly summarized as two: karma of intention and karma of thought. Again, there are five: karma of object, such as the eyes looking at forms, etc.; karma of action, such as the earth acting as a support, or the nature of form being what it is; karma of physical and verbal effort, with thought as the precursor; karma of transformation, such as a blacksmith making ornaments on gold; and karma of attainment, such as attaining nirvana from the path. Here, it is considered karma of effort. Karma of intention is the karma of mind, which is the mind actively constructing, and is meritorious, non-meritorious, and unwavering. Karma of thought is karma of body, karma of speech, and karma of mind, which are virtuous and non-virtuous. Compare the ten paths of non-virtuous karma, etc. What is the karma that arises from intention? It is ordering someone to do something that they do not want to do, such as non-virtuous conduct arising from intention, and others.
