The four great elements are the cause. What is the meaning of what was said? It was said with the intention of craving or existence. The meaning of a thing that depends on one side is the meaning of being the cause. Whatever arises from the aggregation of cause and form, whatever is the object of focus, it should be said that it is there. There are also aggregates made of one element, like dry clods. Made of two, like the moisture of the former. Made of three, it is warm. The four are like the clod of earth that is warm, moist, cohesive, and moving, all made of everything. In the case of form that has been made into a cause, it should also be known that whatever form that has been made into a cause is aggregated, whatever is the object of focus, it is there. One is like light. The two are the wind with sound and smell. The three are like smoke, with touch and lightness. There are also form, taste, and touch. The fourth is like a lump of brown sugar. If it has sound, then it has five. The accumulation of minute particles is the aggregation of form. What is said is that it should be understood that the minute particles are only conceptualized, and there is no substance of their own body, and there is no essence. Why is it divided by the mind, and to what extent can it be divided, and established as minute particles? Because there is no end to the analysis. If there is no body, what is the point of setting it up? It also does not reside in things, because such a division cannot be established. After dividing it in this way, the whole concept of form can be broken down, and it can be made to understand that form has no substance. Also, this suffering is extremely vast and has not been reduced, and it is the suffering of those who are in the desire realm and have not accumulated merit. Those who have been reduced are those who have given rise to the part of liberation. There are those who have been reduced and those who have not been reduced, and it is the suffering of those who have accumulated merit in order to achieve detachment from the world. Those who have not been reduced in the middle are those who are born in the form realm and have abandoned the part of liberation. Those who have been reduced and not reduced are those who are born in the formless realm and have abandoned the part of liberation. Those who are extremely reduced are the sufferings of those who are learning. Those who are extremely extremely reduced are the name and form of the life force of those who are not learning.

Not being suffering, but perceived as suffering, Bodhisattvas, with the supreme power of pāramitā, intentionally take birth in samsara, appearing and being extremely subtle, abiding in the vastness. It also exists either through increasing one's own power of virtue or through others accomplishing it. The meaning of these and others is as explained in the commentary. Regarding the statement that "death is suffering," there are three types of death: One with a clear continuum of virtuous mind; One with a clear continuum of non-virtuous mind due to one's own or others' power; One where neither of the two can be done, with an indeterminate mind. In any case, eventually the clear continuum ceases, and one dies with an indeterminate mind, as stated in the "Section." The body that performs virtuous deeds initially becomes cold from the lower part. The non-virtuous one becomes cold from emptiness. The intermediate state of the non-virtuous is like a black banner, or like the darkness of night. The virtuous one is like a white cloth, or like appearing on a night with moonlight. The intermediate state is at the time of being born in the desire or form realm, or at the time of death and transference from the formless realm. That is born from mind and is also called Gandharva, because it is in accordance with smell, going to the place of birth and consuming fragrance. How long does it stay? It stays for seven days. If the condition for birth is found, it dies before that. If not found, it dies again after seven days, and the intermediate state is established. Thus, it does so up to seven times, and does not stay in the intermediate state longer than that. If it is asked, "Why does it revert?" it means that in that situation, if a strong condition for being born elsewhere manifests, one will be born there, and thus it is possible to revert from the previously established intermediate state. For example, a bhikshu arhat who has attained the fourth dhyana, or one who possesses manifest pride, when the intermediate state is established, if they find a wrong view that denigrates liberation, the intermediate state of hell will be established. If it is asked, "Why does it revert?" it means that there, one may also accumulate virtuous and other deeds due to the power of previous karma. Sentient beings who have previously engaged in both virtuous and non-virtuous deeds together, with equal karmic connections, will also see as in a dream. The form of the future existence is the form of the place where one will be born. There is no obstruction to going to those places. Like one with miraculous powers, one goes quickly and stops at the place where one will be born. The intermediate state.
