Secondly, there are two necessities: to refute wrong views and to follow good intentions. Firstly, to subdue the Samkhya school, which holds the teachings of Shakyamuni, and believes in twenty-five principles; as well as the Veda school, which holds the teachings of the sage with feet-eyes, and the son of the owl, namely the Vaisheshika school, which believes in six categories; and the sky-clad ones, namely the naked ones, who believe in nine categories; and the upholders of the Charvaka school, which is the nihilistic school that adorns the other shore; the Shravakas or Hearers, namely the Sarvastivadins, who believe that the three times, past, present, and future, are substantially existent, etc.; and those who dwell in the snowy mountains, such as the phya gtsang dan gsum, who believe in cessation, etc., in order to destroy the evil conceptions of those who proclaim various self-made treatises, this great treatise was composed. This is the meaning of refuting wrong views. Secondly, there are two necessities: to advise entering the path of reasoning, and to explain that this kind of reasoning is profound and not within the scope of ordinary people. Firstly, in order to follow good intentions, others are also urged to enter the correct path: although there is some intellectual capacity, the essence or key points of the well-spoken are not found clearly. Even if one strives day and night, one only exhausts or thoroughly understands the scriptures in one aspect. Although one constantly strives to cultivate samadhi, one only stays on temporary paths such as abiding in the mind, and sees that they deviate from the pure path that pleases the Buddha. Alas, beings of the degenerate age are content with understanding only one aspect of the meaning, so one should carefully contemplate the principles of what to adopt and abandon, and the merits and faults, and rely on a wise person who can point out the correct key points, and thus rely on the unerring path. Secondly, the non-erroneous suchness of reasoning explained in the seven treatises is this. Having understood this with an intellect that does not rely on others, abandon the bad habit of repeating the rumors of the old Tibetans of the early period. Although this treatise is spoken for the sake of Sakya Pandita, so that I can follow those who are fortunate, those who understand the key points of correct reasoning with innate and acquired intellectual abilities will gladly accept this treatise, so it is made for the benefit of those people, but not everyone can understand it, why? Because this treatise is subtle and profound, even if it has been heard many times, it is not within the scope of fools.

Therefore, it is not a transformation. Thirdly, by explaining the correct way of reasoning in this way, the eyes of the wise who are endowed with fortune are opened without being closed, and by this virtue of clearly showing the true meaning of this profound and subtle knowledge as it is, may we attain the omniscient wisdom that directly sees all profound and vast meanings, and become the ultimate refuge of all beings. Third, the concluding remarks and the author's inscription. This treatise called "The Treasury of Logic and Reasoning" originated in the northern snowy region, a hundred yojanas beyond Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya). It is a grammar that eliminates confusion in words by explaining the three aspects of nature, cause, and transformation; and the valid cognition of perception and inference that understands the object to be measured; and the combination of Sanskrit prosody required for the form of verses; and poetry with a delightful flavor that combines prose and verse; and the ornaments of speech such as the Mirror, which distinguishes the merits and demerits of those words; and the knowledge of the nature of reality and imputation, the way of having many names for one meaning, the collection of names; and the worldly sciences that are entered through the three doors of craftsmanship, etc., are well known, and they are explained through the doors of general and specific meanings, etc., and the treatises are written by interpreting the meaning of the scriptures without error, and in the arena of debate that defeats the pride of opponents, there is good eloquence. In particular, he has thoroughly understood the Compendium of Valid Cognition, which gathers all the statements that reveal valid cognition, and the meaning of the seven treatises of valid cognition, without reversing them. In addition, he has attained the supreme light of intelligence in all the statements of the Sugata's scriptures, and in the reasoning that determines their meaning, and in all the methods of oral instructions that easily realize the essential points. The monk Kunga Gyaltsen Palsangpo (All Joyful Banner Glorious Good), who followed the King of the Shakyas, abandoned the combination of words and phrases that emphasize verbal embellishment, and explained the essential points in an easy-to-understand way. It was well composed in the auspicious Sakya Monastery, a place of perfect qualities. Wonderful! The fame of the wise is like the drum of the gods, beating unmatched in the three realms. The Dharma King, the embodiment of the wisdom of Jamyang Gonpo.
