A Commentary on the Treasury of Logic, The Victory Banner over Opponents. A Commentary on the Treasury of Logic, The Victory Banner over Opponents. This concludes the treatise called A Commentary on the Treasury of Logic, The Victory Banner over Opponents. Namo Manjushriye. Solely through the secret path of reasoning that refutes and establishes, With a single sword of wisdom, cutting through all dharmas', The net of doubt, all at once, Victorious may you be, fearless Sakya Manjughosha! Here, in order to clarify the meaning of the seven treatises, including the root text, without distortion, this Treasury of Logic will be explained, which has three aspects: the meaning of the title, the meaning of the text, and the meaning of the conclusion. First, in Sanskrit: Pramāṇayugatanidhi. In Tibetan: A treasury containing all the precious jewels of reasoning from the seven treatises on valid cognition, including the root text. Second, the meaning of the text includes: the limbs of composing the treatise, the body of the treatise to be composed. The conclusion is the act of complete fulfillment, and there are three aspects. The first includes: praise and the vow to compose. The first includes: paying homage to the supreme deity, paying homage to the guru, and praising the two lords of reasoning. First, to the one who has transcended the realms of ordinary beings, including shravakas, pratyekabuddhas, and bodhisattvas, whose body, speech, and mind are free from the suffering of faults, who possesses the glory of perfect peace and benefit, and who manifests as a youthful form, I respectfully prostrate. Second, to the one whose eyes are wide open, seeing all that exists without obstruction, who possesses the qualities of wisdom; who has great compassion, accomplishing the benefit and happiness of all beings in this life and the next; whose miraculous deeds of benefit and happiness are inconceivable, Who constantly and pervasively displays power; I bow my head to the feet of the glorious guru, the essence of Manjughosha. Third, with the crown of subtle and profound wisdom, adorned with the jewel of qualities that sees all the meanings of reality through the power of valid cognition; possessing the two functions that show the two truths without mixing them, and proclaiming the sound of the essence of emptiness and selflessness; the rays of the vision of wisdom and compassion, causing those who look upon them to fall, are unbearable to beings, unbearable to opponents; seeking liberation.

Like the glorious lord Nāgārjuna, adorned with the ocean of clear intelligence, and the two victorious ones, Dignāga (Phyogs-glang) and Dharmakīrti (Chos-kyi Grags-pa), the Nāga lords abide in the form of great serpents and adorn the embodied with the five dharmas. Secondly, there are two aspects: the necessity of composing, and the manner of composing. Firstly, in this land of snow mountains, hundreds of thousands of wise stars such as Ngog and Phya, and Tsang and Dan, have fully opened the lotus of the writings of glorious Dharmakīrti through teaching, listening, and commentaries. However, because the light of the wisdom of the author Sakya Paṇḍita had not yet spread, the ultimate essence of the doctrine could not be clarified. This is like the stars being many, but the lotus not being fully opened, so that the central stamen cannot be clarified. Secondly, therefore, seeing that the intention of the Lord of Reasoning (Rigs-pa'i dbang-phyug, referring to Dignāga) had not been clarified as it is, the author, with the clear eye of intelligence blessed by innate and acquired qualities, and by the deity, has clearly seen the tenets of glorious Dharmakīrti as they are. With the wisdom to discern contradictions and connections, abiding in an impartial mind, and seeking the meaning of good explanations, I explain this treatise with a compassionate mind free from the desire for fame for the sake of other fortunate individuals. Secondly, the main topic is divided into two: establishing what is knowable in general, and determining the nature of valid cognition (tshad ma). Firstly, there are three aspects: the object of knowledge, the knowing consciousness, and the way in which consciousness cognizes the object. Firstly, there are three aspects: the definition of the object, its divisions, and the summary of its meaning. Firstly, the definition of the object is that which is to be cognized by the self-grasping consciousness. Secondly, there are two aspects: refuting other views and establishing one's own view. Within that, there are three aspects: debate, and settling disputes. Firstly, there are three aspects: stating the claim, refuting it, and concluding the refutation. Firstly, some Tibetans say that the appearing object and the apprehended object are the same, therefore, the general concept (don spy༷i) is the object apprehended by conceptual thought, and the non-existent, the appearing like a double moon, is the object of non-conceptual mistaken consciousness, therefore, both of these are objects. Do the views of Tsang Nakpa and others who hold this view make sense? Secondly, there are two aspects: refuting by being too much of a non-mistaken consciousness, and refuting by being too much of an appearing object. Firstly, there are two aspects: issuing the consequence, and refuting the response to that fault. Firstly, that is not reasonable.
