If the two thoughts that are without basis are transformed into hesitation and wrong view, then it is difficult to establish a separate, independent doubt apart from these two. Third, or as you think, considering the certainty of agreeing with the hidden object as a true intention, then why can't it be said that the thought that is contrary to this and has a false object is a wrong intention? If you think so, then the idea that intention is a true idea that agrees with things will collapse. If you say that because you doubt both of these errors, it is not intention, then if you also analyze the previous thought, because you doubt both, it is equally not intention. If you doubt both sides and still have not eliminated the doubt, then it will become doubt and cannot become intention. If it does not become doubt, but it is certain that it agrees with things, then it is possible to become intention, then disagreeing with things will also transform separately, so the number of five thoughts such as intention is determined to be destroyed, there is no fault, if you say that false intention is wrong view, then intention will also become the same as the measure of determining truth. Second, refute separately, divided into: refuting intention without reason, refuting intention with inverted reason, and refuting the idea of considering the teachings of the scriptures as intention. First, if the idea that there is water in the well, etc., without reason or without grasping the reason, is a true intention that is certain to agree with the object, then all thoughts such as thinking that there is treasure under oneself will become true, because even without reason it is admitted to be true. Second, if the measured is impermanent, and the reason for establishing impermanence is reversed, according to your point of view, all of these must be intentions, but the teacher classifies uncertain thoughts as doubts, so it is contrary to the scriptures. Third, the idea of understanding what one wants to express from the teachings of one's own and others' sects is any of the four types of thoughts: measure, non-intellect, illusion, and doubt, not intention. Second, refute the idea that appears but is uncertain. If it is not a measure because the object appears but is uncertain, then all direct perceptions will become non-measures, because the scriptures prohibit determining the self-characteristic direct perception, but rely on the power of the self-characteristic appearance to establish it as a measure, not certainty.

The remaining part will be narrated. Third, refuting decisive cognition, divided into two: general refutation and specific refutation of direct perception decisive cognition. First, if the so-called decisive cognition is determined by reason, then it has already been determined by its own valid means of cognition, so it is not doubt. The remainder of it must be either not understanding, or inverted cognition, or the valid cognition itself, it must be one of these three. Otherwise, it is unreasonable, because there is no other cognition other than the four types of mind, therefore, since it is not valid cognition and inverted cognition, it is not understanding, because it only remembers the previous object, and it does not have an object to be understood for itself. Second, divided into two: actual refutation and refuting the unreasonableness of it. First, divided into three: refuting that direct perception and decisive cognition are contradictory and there is no common basis; refuting that the category of sense consciousness is valid cognition; summarizing its meaning. First, direct perception is the essence of being free from conceptualization, the object is its own characteristic, the time is the present, and the way of holding is clear and unmixed. Decisive cognition is the essence of conceptualization, the object is language, the time is the past, it is memory, and the way of holding is unclear and mixed. Therefore, since the object, time, and way of holding are contradictory, how can there be a common basis for being both direct perception and decisive cognition? Second, again someone says: There is no fault, because for the category, such as blue, holding the continuity of blue between the eye consciousness and not separated is valid direct perception. After the first recognition of blue, knowing "this is blue" is decisive cognition. Answer: It is not like that, because they mistakenly regard the momentary continuum of blue as a single continuity and cling to it. Category is not the object of direct perception, because the momentary continuum is a substance and not a category, and the general category of non-Buddhists does not exist. The category of exclusion of others is a fabrication, so it is not the object of direct perception. Third, in short, for the present of the seen meaning, there is no subsequent cognition. If these two are one, then being one is contradictory, so there is no common basis. The present is direct perception, so it is not memory, because memory is the object of the past. The category that is fabricated as one before and after, because it is not a substance, is contradictory to being seen in the object of the senses. Seeing an object like blue, there is no difference between valid and non-valid cognition of newly recognizing the meaning taken before and after, because each moment is an object.
