The skillful reasoning of refuting heresies. Intermediate verses. Third, regarding refuting arguments, there are two types of arguments: those that are the same as the scriptures of other schools, and those that do not turn into faults of the thesis being established. The first has two parts: argument and answer. First, it is said that contradicting other Vedas, which state that bathing can eliminate sins, etc., also becomes a contradiction of scripture, because it is scripture. Second, regarding this, attachment, hatred, ignorance, etc., are not Dharma, while detachment from attachment and detachment from hatred, etc., are Dharma, not annihilationism or eternalism. These are explanations, so on the basis of acceptance, the cause of elimination, bathing, and the cause of what is eliminated, attachment, etc., are not contradictory, so they are not mutually eliminable and eliminating, because Dharma and non-Dharma are not the same. Such treatises are self-contradictory, so they are not scripture. The second has two parts: argument and answer. First, if the obstacle of contradicting oneself and contradicting the meaning of the treatise only gives rise to doubt about the thesis being established, then the thesis itself still exists without fault, so it is not reasonable to be a fault of the subject, if you say so. Second, that is not reasonable as a subject, because why? Because for the thesis to be established, the mutual hindrance of words creates doubt, although it is not in this way that it becomes a fault of the thesis, but by the power of the hindrance, that word is established as a fault in the way that the thesis cannot be established. Third, if it contradicts faith, then the way the vow is broken. If so, if it contradicts this, then the vow is broken, because taking a vow is to show the idea of the meaning that one desires. If the contradiction of one's own words and the treatise gathers on one basis, like poisonous yogurt, the vow is broken. Therefore, for the benefit of others, one should first admit that the expression of language, such as the way of admitting, etc., is flawed, and in the context of debate, one should abandon it because it gives rise to accusations of one's own defeat. Fourth, refutation by fame. Definition. Its nature must be determined in two ways. First, the vow itself contradicts the customs of the world, which is called refutation by fame. Second, a brief indication that can be expressed in words. Its manner is explained in detail in two ways. First, the heretics grammarians believe that sound and meaning have a direct relationship, and the examination of what is said and what can be said has already been prohibited. In the case of eliminating others, all sounds are expressing

Having achieved entry (into the Dharma) through the power of wisdom, fame is also bound to exist and be accomplished. Secondly, to explain the two sentences of the sutra, dissecting their meanings, and showing the analysis of these meanings. Firstly, the reason why all dharmas cannot be expressed by sound, and the existence of obstacles; the absence of a reason to establish it. Firstly, refuting others' examinations; stating one's own rationality. Firstly, the prior argument and its refutation. Firstly, other proponents say that by taking "because it exists" as the reason, taking something with a rabbit as the subject, thereby preventing it from being expressed by the sound of "moon." Secondly, how it becomes a non-common uncertain reason, how it becomes contradictory. Firstly, because this reason of "exists" has no example, it is non-common and cannot be used as a reason for establishment, and for all existing things, they can also be expressed by any arbitrary sound. Secondly, the meaning of sound, that is, all things that exist as objects in consciousness, can be expressed as "moon," therefore that reason is contradictory. Secondly, stating rationality, divided into fame that can be expressed and fame arising from sound. Firstly, first identify the fame that can be expressed, then prove that it pervades all things, and there are three debates to eliminate. Firstly, the meaning that can be expressed, which arises from the sound that is used according to customs in the world, is called fame, according to the scholars. Secondly, that fame can also be applied to all knowable things, therefore fame pervades all. Thirdly, debate and answer. Firstly, if applying the sound of fame to something that was previously completely unknown, like applying the moon to things like vases, it contradicts the worldly, then, secondly, for all knowable things, it can be called that way, so the sound of fame was created, not that it is already famous, just as one cannot actually cook rice, but the ability to cook rice is called cooking. Secondly, regarding the fame arising from sound, divided into the necessity of telling it and how it is included in inference. Firstly, even if just the fact that it can be expressed is established on all things, but because of the convention of names, and the reason that the convention also relies on the intention to express, whichever of these two reasons, as long as one word of expression is established, then it can be used to establish the fame that all things can be expressed, in order to show that there is a reason for establishment, therefore it is said.
