Thus, distinguishing between the real and the imagined, if the argument is confused, then each one cannot be the basis of an example. Second, mistaking the meaning of the sound to be proven by one's own system as self-characterized, clinging to the collective meaning of not distinguishing between sound and meaning, is merely the basis of the example to be proven. Third, merely grasping this by excluding others, there is no opportunity for dispute in proving things like sound is impermanent, and in proving things like sound is permanent, which are non-things themselves. Third, regarding exclusion, there are three aspects: the general definition, the classification and summary of numbers, and the determination of the respective meanings. First, the definition of exclusion is that, merely at the time of assertion, the contradiction between the aspect to be proven and the ability to exclude is established. Second, it is divided into two: real and refutation. First, regarding this, the five classifications of exclusion as explained in the "Gate of Reasoning" will all be summarized into four to explain. Here, following the latter view, if explained according to the Pramāṇavārttika, from the perspective of the object, for inference, it is divided into three: inference, one's own words, and what is acknowledged by all the world, thus proclaiming the four exclusions of direct perception and inference. Among them, the exclusion by direct valid cognition प्रमाण(Tibetan, དངོས་སྟོབས་ཀྱི་ཚད་མ།,梵文deva-pramāṇa,Romanization deva-pramana,meaning the measure of the gods) and the exclusion by inferential valid cognition प्रमाण(Tibetan, རྗེས་དཔག་ཚད་མ།,梵文pramāṇa,Romanization pramana, meaning measure) are both excluded by the measure of the power of things, so in essence they are two exclusions. And the two that are excluded by one's own commitment and the two that are excluded by what is widely known in the world, because they are fabricated as being excluded by measure, the latter two are also included in the category of inference. Second, it is divided into two: debate and answer. First, some say, then just as inference is separately divided into two: commitment and fame, for direct perception as well, saying "there are no two moons," etc., for cases like "that cannot be expressed by sound," do the two exclusions by direct perception's commitment, etc., apply? Second, they do not apply, because what is excluded by commitment cannot be the direct perception itself other than the resulting sign inferred from words, and it is unreasonable to exclude direct perception by fame, because what can be expressed by sound cannot be established by direct perception, and what is established by self-awareness is direct perception itself, not by fame. Third, regarding the respective meanings, there are four exclusions: direct perception, inference, trust, and fame. First, for anything that contradicts the experience of direct perception merely at the time of assertion, such as "sound is not audible," etc., is what is excluded by direct perception. And this is also because the previously established is not remembered, so at the time of assertion, the established is not contradictory.

It is considered that if the reason with three conditions, that is, the reason of the power of things joining and contradicting one's own commitment, then the reason cancels the commitment, such as the commitment "sound is constant," etc. Third, there are three aspects: definition, classification, and debate. First, if one's own believed words contradict one's own commitment, then the commitment is canceled. Second, it is divided into three types: general statement, detailed explanation of classification, and the way commitment is destroyed when it contradicts this. First, classifying it, there are two sayings that include commitment and self-speech in the path of reason. Regarding the difference between these two sayings, other ancient people said that it contradicts the scriptures of faith and contradicts the words of the opponent himself. The master Dignāga believes that it is a classification of the speaker's own language. The previous and later commitments contradict each other, and the direct and indirect contradictions of self-speech, both of which are in the Compendium, are like "neither the scriptures nor the self-speech are the measure of things that can be measured," which is expressed by one example. In the path of reason, the example of scripture is said elsewhere, Dharmakirti said: "Dharma is not something that transfers from this life to the next life to give happiness." Second, explaining the scriptures in detail, there are three aspects: the way special scriptures belong to inference, ordinary scriptures are the same as self-speech, and the summary of these. First, if any scripture is analyzed, for the measurable manifest and hidden, the measure of manifest and inference does not harm, and it is very hidden, and neither can be determined. For the matter of kalpas, because the self-speech of that scripture directly and indirectly and the commitment do not contradict internally, therefore, the scriptures that are purified by three analyses without self-speech damage are the scriptures we desire, which are the infallible measure for hidden things, so they are summarized as inference. Second, therefore, the scriptures established by reason are the measure itself, but if they are not established by reason, then the contradiction after the commitment is also the same as the words of the speaker himself. In fact, even if it is not a harmer, it is considered to be merely hindering the accomplishment of what is to be accomplished. Third, what is called scripture is not necessarily the measure, and what is established by the measure is the scripture. First, believing that it is a credible scripture, and then judging whether it is reasonable or not is foolish. First analyze, and what is established by reason is the pure scripture.
