If one abides equally, it is done by samadhi. Those noble ones who abide free from the imprints of conceptualization are not guided by definite knowledge. Although they are without conceptualizations such as 'I will do this' or 'I will not do this,' they do not miss the time to tame those to be tamed. It is said that entering and withdrawing from samadhis of valiant conduct, such as withdrawing at the wrong time, etc., is done from such samadhis. Third, if the mind tainted by sleep cannot fathom the wisdom of wakefulness, then one with inconceivable wisdom cannot be comprehended by limited vision. Although one cannot fathom the knowledge of that Buddha's knowledge of the three times, one can still fathom that it exists. Third, in the valid cognition that establishes direct perception of yoga, there are three: establishing the entity, establishing the characteristic, and refuting what is unsuitable for the established meaning. First, there are two: establishing the past and establishing what can arise in the future. First, how is it inferred? If it is determined that the words spoken by him are distinguished by the three kinds of examination, then it can also be inferred that a perfect direct perception of yogic wisdom that is not mistaken about its object has already arisen or occurred. Second, there are two: positing the sign and establishing the nature of that sign. First, what can arise in the future is also the accomplishment of perfect direct perception that is extremely clear about that object after the completion of familiarization with emptiness, etc., just like familiarization with desire and fear. That familiarization, etc., is also accomplished by the certainty of preventing other harmful extremes such as non-arising of the lineage. Second, there are two: refutation and establishment. First, there are two: stating the views of others and showing that they are unreasonable. First, regarding the establishment of familiarization as the basis and the dependent, some say that the earlier consciousness is the basis and the later one is dependent. The way to establish this is that there are two kinds of ultimate limits of wisdom: the beginningless and the endless. For example, just as fire and a lamp emit light before smoke, the later ones are also exemplified in the same way. Since the present wisdom is actually established as having cause and effect, its distinctions are also established implicitly, so it is said that the beginningless and endless past and future are established by self-awareness direct perception itself. Second, the beginningless and endless past and future mind is not established by self-awareness, because even though there is cause and effect now, it does not prevent the mind from arising from other unfavorable directions, and there is doubt that wisdom will be cut off. Although smoke arises from fire.

Like fire produced by rubbing wood and a lamp emitting light, but the oil cannot be cut off, these two cannot be taken as examples. Second, regarding the view of our own school, there are two ways to establish the beginningless and endless nature of both past and future. First, the immediate cause of the mind is not dependent on anything other than the mind itself, but because other causes cannot newly produce it, this sign establishes the beginningless nature of the past. Second, there are two ways to establish the endless nature of clarity, both with and without self-grasping. First, establish the fundamental sign, establish its mode, and there are three aspects to this: debate and refutation. First, the dying mind will definitely produce the subsequent mind, because it possesses the cause of ignorance and the collection of karma and afflictions, and there are no obstacles, no self, etc., this sign establishes the endless nature of the future. Second, there are two ways to establish the subject-property and pervasion. First, there are three aspects: negation, affirmation, and abandonment. First, there are two aspects: stating the views of others and refuting them. First, if one wonders what the cause of rebirth in samsara is, some non-Buddhists say: the combination of karma, body, and mind is the cause of samsara, and if any one of them is missing, it will not arise, just like a seed without water and fertilizer, therefore, they practice asceticism in order to prevent or abandon the body and karma individually. Second, this is not reasonable, because karma cannot be abandoned, because it is limitless. If self-attachment is not abandoned, even if those two are abandoned, they will arise again, because there is no benefit, and if self-attachment is abandoned, like a fire that has run out of firewood, there is no need for asceticism to separately abandon those two, therefore, actions such as asceticism that exhaust life and actions such as the five fires that exhaust the body are not the path to liberation. Second, regarding the view of our own school, there are two aspects: identifying the cause of samsara and explaining its antidote. First, there are two aspects: the general cause of existence and the specific cause of the arising of sense consciousness. First, the cause of rebirth in samsara is ignorance of self, and from that, afflictions such as attachment and aversion arise, and from that, karma such as black and white arise, and from karma, the cycle of good and bad realms arises, that is, the seven bases appear. Second, from the six internal sense bases, other external sense bases are established, that is, sense consciousnesses combine with each other as cause and condition. The various good and bad qualities of those sense bases are caused by karma. Second, regarding the antidote, there is the error of partial understanding.
