Saying that even if one does not understand the subsequent of exhaustion, there is no fault, because in order to establish the meaning to be established through the characteristic of the reason, it is said that exhaustion has no fault. Second, even if it is not certain that the three aspects symbolized as the reason and the tail symbolized as the cow, just by determining the symbolic basis as the reason and the white as the characteristic basis of the cow, one can understand impermanence and that it is a cow. If one thinks so, then when one sees the sound being made, it is impossible to generate the delusion that the sound is permanent, and other lumps without tails will also be determined as cows. Second, refuting the other's position that there is exhaustion, and establishing one's own position that one does not accept, are two. First, establish the former position, and then refute it, are two. First, if there is no attachment in the term that is not confused by the thought of sound, then it transcends knowledge and expression and becomes unknowable. If it exists, then it is the characteristic of the second term or the subsequent. Therefore, some people think that the former is the characteristic and the latter is the symbolized. The so-called term is just the appearance in the mind that excludes others, and one is attached to the opposite of its meaning. For example, the so-called term of a pot is inseparable from the pot, and there is no need to study the self-aspect of this term. Second, pointing out the faults, and refuting them by the answer itself, thereby establishing one's own view, are two. First, if that is the case, then for the branch that is considered the characteristic of a tree, if there is no second branch, then this branch is not a tree. If the branch also has a branch, then following this logic, the tree will also have no exhaustive characteristics. Second, the other party's answer, and showing that this answer is the same as what is to be established. First, the other party says that when establishing a sandalwood tree, when establishing a branch, even if the branch does not have other branches, the branch will not become non-tree, because this branch itself does not establish that the branch itself and the tree are different, but in order to establish that the branch itself and the sandalwood are both the same nature of the tree and are inseparable, so there is no need for exhaustion. Second, then, if the term does not have a second term, then the former will not exceed knowledge and expression, because this term itself does not establish that it is different from the term of a cow, etc., by the characteristics of the tail, etc., but in order to establish that the term is the same nature of knowledge of a cow, where is there a need for term exhaustion? There is no need.

Second, regarding one's own system. Generally, it's the way terms are established. Specifically, it's the way terms are established when stating the combination. There are three aspects to this: debate and response. First, therefore, in one's own system, name and meaning, that is, the sound of the word 'vase' and the meaning, the self-characteristic or definition of a vase, that is, the name and meaning, clay, etc., when one realizes the connection between these two, then whatever term it is, is established, and to establish it, nothing else is needed. For example, when one realizes the connection between the name and meaning of 'bloated belly' and 'vase,' the term 'vase' is established. Even though the connection between name and meaning itself has the aspect of being a term, there's no need to examine it, just as the sound 'vase' itself has the aspect of excluding non-vases, even if one doesn't examine it, one understands that it's the expression of a vase. Therefore, considering definitions and terms to be endless is like searching for the outer shell of a seed when eating fruit. It's meaningless, and therefore it's not mentioned anywhere in the seven treatises. Second, whether stating a reason or establishing a definition, both belong to this general and specific combination, that is, the reasons for establishing a term are two. Both the general and the specific converge on the third combination. First, the root reason. Second, the reason why it is so. Third, remembering the name that has that reason and is combined with the term, since it's impossible to repeat the previous one after three, there's no need for a fourth one onwards. Regarding this, based on the wording of the commentary, there seems to be a way of not considering the root reason as a reason, but adding the general and specific together as the third reason, which is somewhat unreasonable, please refer to the footnote. Third, regarding debate and response. Two aspects: debate and response. First, someone says: If the three ways of establishing smoke as a reason, if there isn't one that possesses the three ways, then that which possesses the three ways cannot become the reason for establishing it, and if it does possess them, then the three ways are the three ways of the three ways of the establisher, then why wouldn't it become endless? Second, in response to this, because it possesses the three ways, that reason is not considered to be the opposite of itself, but is mentally apprehended as the three ways that are inseparable from the dharma of smoke alone, because one doesn't want a second three ways, etc., therefore, in ultimate reality, there is no other separate dharma. This way also eliminates the fault of definitions becoming endless. Second, the necessity
