Therefore, understanding rise and decline is the fundamental method for judging enemies and friends, so it must be done in the following chapters. Eighth, the seven wondrous pulses are: the seven pulses from household fortune to child pulse. These pulses are explained in detail below. First, observe the household fortune pulse: no matter what pulse it is, if it sinks deep into the flesh and cannot be determined what it is, presenting an unclear, turbid state, then it is an impure pulse. Even if it does not sink in that way, but if it is inherently unclear, presenting a hazy and turbid state, then it is a pulse that brings sorrow. That is to say, if one is currently in sorrow such as the death of parents, observing the pulse will present a hazy and turbid state. If there was no sorrow before and no illness, but this situation occurs, then it should be determined that sorrow is about to occur. Similarly, this can be applied to the other six unfavorable pulses. If it flows like water, sometimes stopping as if tied up, then it is a pulse that brings fear, that is, when a person suddenly experiences a strong fright, immediately observing the pulse, the pulse will present a loose, rough state, the flow becoming weaker and weaker, even feeling no pulsation. If the pulse is like a thorn, becoming sharp from the base of the finger upwards, then it is a pulse from which there is no escape from suffering. If it boils like a hot spring, bubbling不定地at the edges and center, fluctuating rapidly, and the pulse also presents不定地bubbling, boiling like trembling, then it is a pulse that will cause fierce quarrels. If it is like a flickering flame that is sometimes large and sometimes small, the pulse beats不定地, the size being不定地, then it is a pulse that will cause property loss. Whichever of these six unpleasant pulses occurs at the time of its own prosperity, then the object represented by the pulse will be affected. For example, in the two life stages of spring trees, if a sinking and turbid phenomenon occurs in the liver pulse, it indicates that he himself has impurities. Similarly, if this occurs in the mother pulse of spring, that is, the kidney pulse of the water element, then the mother and uncle will be affected by the harm represented by the impure pulse. If it occurs in the child pulse, then the son and grandson will be affected. If it occurs in the friend pulse, then property will be affected, such as the family deity being defiled by impure things, or feeling fear due to property loss, or the occurrence of enemies and beasts, etc.

One should perform divination. In the enemy's pulse of the time, whatever bad pulse appears, it is good because those misfortunes will befall the enemy at that time. If such a thing happens in the pulse of a general or a sorcerer, then the enemy can be defeated at that time, and so on. Second, regarding the divination of guests: One should divine for the family member whom the person who has left home cares about and misses the most. Among them, there are two types of pulses: close pulses and enemy-friend pulses. First, for these five pulses—liver pulse, lung pulse, heart pulse, spleen pulse, and kidney pulse—one should analyze which one is the strongest. Among these five pulses, if the liver pulse is strong, it means that they have already arrived at the place they went to earlier; if the lung pulse is strong, it means that they have already embarked on the return journey, and so on, inferring in order. For this close divination, one only needs to observe the strength of these pulses, without needing to analyze other characteristics of the pulse beat. Alternatively, one can distinguish between enemy and friend: if the mother pulse and self pulse of that time are strong, it means they are staying in place; if the child pulse is strong, it means they have embarked on the return journey; if the enemy pulse is strong, it means they are about to arrive. To divine whether the guest's request will be successful or not, one can judge based on which of the heart, liver, and kidney pulses beats the strongest, such as the arrival of an enemy, and so on, inferring in order. From the enemy-friend pulse perspective, if the enemy pulse is strong, or if the self pulse, etc., has its own enemy pulse, if an enemy pulse appears, then the matter will not succeed; if the friend pulse is strong, or if the self mother pulse and child pulse have their own friend pulse, that is, if these pulses beat like one's own friend pulse, then the matter will succeed accordingly. If analyzed carefully, one can also see many differences such as the size of the friend. Third, regarding the divination of enemies: When divining for enemies and disputants, as well as generals in large wars, etc., regard their lung pulse as themselves and the spleen pulse as the enemy, and determine victory or defeat based on which of the two is stronger, this is the close pulse. From the perspective of enemy and friend, taking spring as an example, if the enemy's pulse at that time, that is, the lung pulse, beats thickly and long like the call of a cuckoo, it means that the enemy's pulse has an enemy pulse, so the enemy can be defeated. If one's own pulse, that is, the liver pulse, beats short and rough like the sound of a blacksmith hammering iron, it means that one's own pulse has an enemy pulse, and if one attacks proactively, one will not be able to defeat the enemy. One's own pulse has an enemy pulse If it is the same as this, then when counterattacking, one will be hit by the enemy, if the mother pulse and self pulse of the time are strong, even if counterattacking, one will
