It is called "a handful." A handful is equal to four taels, twelve chicken eggs, and the meanings are the same. There are two thousand five hundred and ninety-two barley grains in it, and it is called "a palmful." This is no different from the previous medical measurement standards, it is just expressed with examples. The differences below are: six handfuls are one "Bre," five "Bres" are one "Sho," and four "Sho" are called one "Kha." The "tael" used for measurement, with three large barley grains of moderate soil fertility, is one "Rati." Two "Ratis" are six barley grains, which is one "Sewa." Twenty "Sewas" are forty "Ratis," which contain one hundred and twenty barley grains, and its common name is "one Sho." Twenty-four "Sewas" are one "Gu Sho," which is one hundred and forty-four barley grains. Twenty-five "Sewas," which is one hundred and fifty barley grains, is called "Zhong Sho," these three are the former, middle, and later Tibetan measurement methods. The "Karma" of the measuring "Sho" is two "Sewas," which is equivalent to the current Chinese black porcelain, white bone porcelain, and the "Gu Sho" commonly used in transactions, the three are no different, and it contains one hundred and forty-four barley grains. The consistent measurement is two "Sewas," which is twelve barley grains for one "Karma," and ten "Karmas" for one hundred and twenty barley grains, called one "Sho," according to "Sewa" {wherever there is "Sewa," it is generally understood to be twice its "Di\

What is the 'gya' (རྒྱ་, a unit of weight) of Umkyungpo? What is the 'srang' (སྲང་, a unit of weight) of Changdo (Chabdo)? What is six 'srang' plus one 'nyag' (ཉག་, a unit of weight)? What is the 'gya' of the Kham (khams) regional government? By analogy, one should also understand others. This is stated in the 'Dilmar Practical Manual'. In the 'Immortal Treasury', 'mda' rgyus' (མདའ་རྒྱུས་) is called the seed of 'srang'. Five 'ma ru' (མ་རུ་) or 'mda' rgyus' is the measure of 'sran ma ma sha' (སྲན་མ་མ་ཤ་). Sixteen of these are considered to be 'karSha' (ཀརྵ་, transliteration) or 'zho' (ཞོ་, a unit of weight). Here, eighty 'mda' rgyus' are considered to be two 'zho' and six 'skar' (སྐར་, a unit of weight) of a medium-sized Chinese scale. That is, when measured with a Chinese scale that has three 'zho' and two 'skar' per 'srang', it is like that. Four 'karSha' or 'zho' is 'ba lam' (བ་ལམ་), which is 'srang'. One hundred gold 'ba lam' is called 'ru lA' (རུ་ལཱ་), and it is considered to be the carrying capacity of twenty 'ru mANi' (རུ་མཱ་ཉི་). Moreover, the 'Immortal Treasury' states that the measure of 'karSha' is 'paNa dong tse'o' (པ་ཎ་དོང་ཙེའོ་). Therefore, 'karSha paNa' (ཀརྵ་པ་ཎ་) is a gold coin, which was made during the Maurya dynasty, according to the 'Vinaya'. Thus, a gold coin weighing the same as eighty 'mda' rgyus', if measured with a Chinese scale in China (རྒྱ་ནག) today, as mentioned above, would be about two 'zho' and six 'skar', and a large 'srang' would be about two 'zho' plus a little more. The statement that one-fourth of 'karSha paNa' was stolen should be understood in this sense, which is mentioned incidentally. Furthermore, the sutra says that twelve barley grains are one 'ma sha' (མ་ཤ་), and sixteen 'ma sha ka' (མ་ཤ་ཀ་) are one 'zho', which is the measure of gold. Twelve barley grains and five 'ma ru' weighed on a 'srang' are equal in weight, with four 'skar'. In this way, one hundred and ninety-two barley grains are one 'zho', and four 'zho', or seven hundred and twenty-eight barley grains, are one 'srang', which is the measure of three hundred and twenty 'mda' rgyus'. According to the common worldly conversion method, six hundred and forty-eight barley grains are one 'srang', and as a measuring standard, twelve barley grains are one 'skar ma' (སྐར་མ་). According to this calculation, one thousand two hundred barley grains are one 'srang', which is the standard for measuring 'zho'. If calculated according to the 'mgul zho' (མགུལ་ཞོ་) and 'gzhung zho' (གཞུང་ཞོ་) standards, it will be slightly more than that. Sixty-six barley grains, measured with a Chinese scale that is neither large nor small today, are commonly said to be one 'zho'. Also, one hundred and twenty barley grains are one 'zho', one hundred and forty-four barley grains are one 'zho', and one hundred and fifty grains are one 'srang', one 'zho'. These seem to be relatively large scales. The 'srang' mentioned when explaining medicinal water is 'srang'.
