I have truly obtained this great, lush tree! The king relies on the root of Dharma and governance, causing those burdened by the weight of abundant wealth's fruits to flourish, possessing the holy, cool, and lush shade. Root, fruit, and shade not only refer to trees but can also be used verbatim for the king's Dharma and governance, as these words are common to both characteristics, thus not being distinct characteristics. Similarly, the comprehensive expression of both similar and dissimilar characteristics is: Whose branches are not small but vast, and whose flowers and fruits are abundant and complete, possessing the supremely excellent holy shade, and the stability that cannot be moved by others, I have obtained this great tree through my own merit! Here, the three—branches, flowers, and fruits—are not directly applied to the king, although these characteristics belong to trees. However, their symbolic meaning is that, like branches, the foundation of relatives or the assembly of ministers and the extent of territory are vast, and like flowers, beauty and wealth are abundant and complete, possessing the four kinds of fruits, and so on. Among these, fruit can be used as a common word, as mentioned above, but when branches and flowers are used as metaphors, it mostly refers to the fruits of trees. Stability and holy shade can both be used in common, thus being similar or common characteristics. Therefore, the meaning to be contemplated in both the preceding and following verses is that the king or great person is praised solely by the tree, and all the characteristics expressed therein, in the first verse, both the basis of difference in thought and expression are commonly applicable, while in the latter verse, they are distinguished into two situations: common or not common. The unprecedented comprehensive expression is: Separated from association with evil snakes, whose nature or disposition is the source of sweetness. Alas! Such a treasure of water, due to the arrival of the time of destruction, will eventually be completely dried up! Its intended meaning is that a holy person is separated from association with evil people, and a gentle person will pass away, which is illustrated by the example of a treasure of water or the ocean. Among these, "བྱཱ་ལ།" refers to...

Because it is related to snakes and angry people, it sometimes becomes the name of an enemy. In some Indian texts, "दुष्ट" (Sanskrit Devanagari, duṣṭa, Sanskrit Romanization, evil) also appears. In addition, it is said that its sound is also related to mad elephants and leopards, etc. In short, "བྱཱ་ལ་" refers to snakes and evil, untamed people, so in Tibetan it is simply called "snake evil." "མ་དྷཱུ་ར་" refers to friends and sweetness, etc. "ཨཱ་ཤ་ཡ་" is a water base, referring to the land surrounded by the ocean, including the water of the ocean. According to the previous translation "in sweetness," it should be understood as being in the ocean and in people. Therefore, the ocean is accompanied by dragons, so it is with snakes, and it has become salt water. There has never been a snake-free and sweet ocean before. The snake-free and sweet ocean mentioned here is to clarify the merits of a person similar to it, that is, the opposite of the two bad qualities of being unsuitable as a friend, such as evil people and unpalatable things. Because the previous "saying" negates the attributes of the ocean, this is considered an unprecedented summary. If expressed in a similar way, Able to destroy the darkness of the three realms all at once. The king of sunlight has the nectar of light. Watching without getting tired, it is the best feast for the eyes. Due to the power of the season, it will appear again. The meaning of this passage is that the Victorious Maitreya will appear in the future. There has never been a sun that can destroy the darkness of the three realms all at once, has the nectar of light, and is a feast for the eyes that one never tires of watching. Because the sun shines on the four continents in sequence, it only gradually eliminates the darkness of the four continents, and has the touch of heat and suffering. It is said that the essence of the poisons previously produced from the ocean was collected and integrated into the sun, so it is not a sun with the nectar of light. Because the eyes cannot bear to watch, it is not a feast for the eyes that one never tires of watching. However, the venerable Maitreya has such merits, so he is an unprecedented sun. And the phrase "will appear again" is actually to be understood as referring to the past Buddhas, such as the teacher Shakyamuni, who appeared in this world like this before.
