Clarity: Clarity is experienced by one's own awareness, and it is said to possess five or six characteristics. Having ascertained the suchness of such a self, one should fix one's mind on it. After that, meditating on the nature of the deity is known as the six Kriya deities. First, the deity of emptiness: Since the suchness of oneself and the deity are of one taste and without difference in the realm of non-discrimination, one should generate the conviction or pride that oneself and the deity are of the same nature, which is said to be the samadhi without appearance. From that state, one contemplates that only the sound of the syllables of the mantra of whichever deity it is resounds from the sky, which is the deity of sound. From that sound, the form of the syllables of the mantra appears in the sky, which is the deity of letters. Then, in order to perfect the deity of form, on top of the suchness of oneself transformed into the form of a lunar mandala, the essence of the deity, the syllables of the mantra, gather together. Like pure mercury clinging to gold dust, from the nature of the inseparability of oneself and the deity, light radiates, making offerings to the noble ones, benefiting sentient beings, and so forth. Through this, the form of the deity of increase becomes clear, and generating the pride that it is so is the deity of form. Then, on its crown and topknot, etc., the hand seals of the family of whichever deity it is are placed, making it stable and blessing it, which is the deity of hand seals. Then, each part of the body and limbs of such a deity is also visualized clearly, and one holds the mind on its characteristics, constantly placing the mind on examining what this and that are like, which is called the deity of discrimination or the conventional body or the deity of characteristics. Such meditation of the yoga of the deity with characteristics is subdued and practiced by the method of restraining the life force. Finally, without effort, free from discrimination, when it becomes manifestly clear, one abides in samadhi. Thus, when reciting mantras through the yoga of the deity's body, the suchness of recitation has four branches, which will be explained in the text. Now, the meaning of the words of the text will be explained. Thus, when one wishes to perform the recitation of knowledge mantras, one should actually visualize the body of the deity that one wishes to accomplish, or the place of that body, or

Regarding the supports, such as paintings, etc., at the very beginning of reciting mantras, after making offerings such as flowers, etc., it symbolizes dwelling in cleanliness and establishing boundaries to protect one's dwelling and belongings. Inviting the assembly field, confessing sins, offering one's body, and other ritualistic actions should be understood as implicitly indicated here. Then, for the sake of the yoga of recitation, sit comfortably on a cushion, adopting postures such as the lotus position. Alternatively, abide in or maintain a yogic posture of single-pointed focus on the object of meditation. The practitioner, possessing the wisdom that understands the means of practice, should contemplate the Sugata (Buddha) in front of oneself, and all actions such as recitation should be performed in the presence of the Bhagavan (Buddha). After that, in order to completely liberate the true nature of the self from all that is imputed as the qualities of the limbs such as the eyes, one should not differentiate or cling to it as an external object of form, abandoning the aspect of clinging to or differentiating forms and other phenomena with the mind of the subject, without a grasper or grasped, not worldly consciousness, subtle and difficult to realize, that is, not clinging to even the mere nature of consciousness. Free from elaboration, naturally luminous, with the nature of ultimate Bodhicitta, after realizing individually with self-aware wisdom, abide in that state, and although not shaken by agitation, etc., it is clear due to being free from dullness, etc., that is, such a meaning possessing six characteristics is what the practitioner observes with wisdom, that is, abiding before self-aware wisdom, personally practicing it. After establishing the true nature of the self in this way, after that, one should meditate with the consciousness of the true nature of the deity or the true nature of the mantra, as shown above with the six deities. Thus, by binding the mind and abiding on the appearance as the deity, one will ultimately effortlessly abide in the clear Samadhi of non-discrimination. Thus, the method of binding the mind, together with the limbs of recitation, is extensively explained. What is called life-force and effort, mindfulness, these two being completely bound is called life-effort binding, and one should recite in a manner that is in accordance with it. In other tantras, such as the Ornament of Clear Realization, it also says, life-force...
