Then, I should cultivate such a nature of Bodhicitta. Thus it is said. Thereafter, offerings that are in accordance with one's own ability should be made to the Lama, such as: precious jewels, houses, elephants, horses, lands, mattresses, male servants, female servants, young girls, extremely lovely maidens, and whatever one can offer oneself, what need is there to mention offering the rest? The second root is to ascertain the ultimate luminosity. From the teacher, having received the kindness of the instructions for manifest enlightenment, cultivating without impurity, one with extremely stable wisdom, all things are self-nature or essence, like the wisdom of a mirror. Clear and free from impurity, equality and extremely subtle, individual awareness. Supreme wisdom, the nature of peace, the wisdom of accomplished action. The realm of the Nirvana of the Buddhas, which is the Dharmadhatu wisdom. Without attachment and non-attachment, etc., the two dharmas, therefore free from all conceptualizations, therefore constantly unchanging and completely perfect, the co-emergent nature of bliss, that itself is what the yogi should cultivate, its result is liberation from both merit and non-merit, and oneself here becomes the ultimate accomplishment of the Bhagavan Mahamudra, glorious Vajrasattva. The sequence of the most secret bliss of manifest enlightenment, composed by the master Nagarjuna, is the fourth sequence. The fifth stage of union or the stage of non-abiding nirvana, this should be explained. Among them, first is entering the treatise and explaining the actual treatise. The first is: The twenty-two distinctions of the Lord's cause, the arising of Bodhicitta, the fruit of Bodhi itself, the nature of all Buddhas, will be explained as such, and secondly, all the conceptualizations of the Dharma are completely abandoned, and after paying homage to the body of non-dual wisdom, the final stage of union will be written. Now we must enter into the meaning of the words of the actual text, that is: The general characteristics of all unions are explained in detail. The distinction between learning and non-learning is briefly shown. The names of the stages of union are explained. The conduct based on union is shown, there are four. The first is: The bondage of afflictions in samsara and the two obscurations of nirvana.

Because the two conceptualizations of these are abandoned, therefore, where samsara and nirvana become one entity, it is called union, thus it is taught. Regarding samsara and nirvana, the way externalist schools assert the existence of entities is not in accordance with reality, so it is not elaborated here. According to the Buddhist view of our own school, the Hinayana considers that samsara is the nature of the ripening of afflictions and karma with defilements. The individual analytical cessation of the exhaustion of the ripening of karma and afflictions is merely called nirvana, and this nirvana is unreal. The Mahayana considers that samsara is encompassed by all sufferings with defilements, which are encompassed by the dualistic appearance of grasping and grasper. Nirvana, which is separate from this and does not abide, is called passing beyond sorrow. Although it is undeniable that the way things appear is as two, in the ultimate reality, there is no difference between the two dharmas, so when the nature of reality manifests as it is, it is free from the two conceptualizations that consider them to be separate, and considering them to be non-separate, the manifestation of self-nature purity is called union. If one understands that both defilement and purification are unborn in ultimate reality, then whoever understands them as one, that is, non-separate, knows and realizes union. Things with forms, such as vases, etc., whatever appears as things in the external environment, do not exist by their own nature, because they are self-illuminating. The nature of self-illumination exists, like mind-only, but other-illumination does not exist. Other-dependence is dependent on others, and this is only what mind-only can illuminate. Therefore, the appearances of blue, yellow, etc., for those who assert that everything is mind-only, are things that are separate from conceptualization, considering that there are no things, no words, and are false. Yogis practice simultaneously, because neither of these exists, and this is knowing union. According to the view of the Middle Way, this is called the object to be grasped, and this is called the grasper, and it is wrong to think that there are these two minds, where there is no distinction, or there is no object to be grasped, therefore there is no grasper, having an indivisible mind, that is called union. And those wrong conceptualizations consider the self, etc., to be permanent and enduring, and that cessation is the ultimate nirvana, the mind that abides in a state of cessation, the wisdom of clear light abandons these and abides in this, thereby recognizing the stages of union, the yogi is wise.
