Although the Asura beings possess intelligence, they are unable to perceive the truth due to the obscurations of karma or samsara. Secondly, having understood this, there is the exhortation to sever rebirth. This is divided into two: the reason for severing rebirth, and the exhortation to diligently sever rebirth because of this reason. Firstly, because the nature or faults of samsara are as previously stated, birth in the various realms of gods, humans, hell beings, hungry ghosts, and animals is not good, for birth there becomes a vessel for many harms such as fear and suffering. Therefore, please understand this. Secondly, therefore, if one's head or clothes suddenly catch fire, one should quickly strive to extinguish it. However, the wise who understand the faults of samsara should even abandon the efforts made to extinguish those fires, and with diligence that disregards body and life, strive to ensure that there is no future life, that is, strive for the sake of severing rebirth, for there is no need more supreme than ensuring that there is no future life. Secondly, the path to entering the path of liberation is divided into two: generating faith in the fruit of liberation, and practicing the path of truth. Firstly, through pure morality, meditation, and wisdom, that is, through the three jewels of training, attain the fruit called Nirvana, that is, the cessation of suffering, the absence of karma that binds one to samsara, the subdued state free from the defilements of affliction, the state of no old age and no death, that is, without old age and death, never exhausted or decayed. Please attain the liberation described by non-Buddhists, which is separate from tangible things like earth, water, fire, wind, sun, and moon. Regarding this, it can be explained as peaceful nirvana without remainder, the cessation of contaminated aggregates, and subdued nirvana with remainder, the subduing of the senses, both of which are without defilement because they are without affliction. Secondly, there are two: the path of seeing and the path of cultivation. Firstly, there are two: explaining the nature of the path, which is the seven branches of enlightenment; and based on this, explaining the profound wisdom yoga related to calm abiding. Firstly, on all occasions of the path of seeing, mindfulness that does not forget the object of focus, wisdom that discriminates dharmas, and diligence that strives to adopt and abandon.
