This was spoken by the Buddha. Secondly, if the Vinaya Pitaka is not written down, how can we know that there are four Parajikas? Venerable ones, these four dharmas that lead to Parajika arise from the Pratimoksha Sutra recited by the Vinaya holders during the fortnightly recitation. Thirdly, there are four: the Parajika of engaging in impure conduct, the Parajika of taking what is not given, the Parajika of killing, and the Parajika of lying. Firstly, again, like Sudinna and monks who live in solitude, any monk who remains in the nature of a monk, together with them, observes the precepts, and because the learning is the same through the gate of reciting the Pratimoksha together, if the precepts have been renounced, there is no downfall, and if the precepts have not been renounced, there is no downfall even if the precepts are broken. If the precepts are not broken, and one engages in impure conduct, the dharma arising from sexual intercourse, not to mention a human being, even one born in the realm of animals like a female monkey, that monk becomes a Parajika, and one should not live together with them in terms of dharma and material possessions. Secondly, again, like Dhanapala, any monk who is in a village of other human beings, that is, inside a fence, or in a monastery, that is, outside a fence, if a man or others takes what is not given, which is counted as stealing, such as taking five mashakas, no matter how much is taken without being given, if that monk is caught by a king or a great minister, and they say to that monk: 'Hey, you are a thief who steals by stealth, a child who does not know good and bad, a fool who does not understand reason, a violent thief.' Saying this, they may kill him, or bind him with chains, or banish him to another country. Thus, if that monk takes what is not given, that monk also becomes a Parajika, and one should not live together with him. Thirdly, again, like the ascetic Sbed, any monk who intentionally kills a human being, even one who has six sense bases in the mother's womb, or one who has only obtained the power of body, life, and mind, and has become a human being, by killing them with his own hand, or by giving a weapon to that person, or by seeking another person to carry a weapon for that person, or by causing that person to die by means of a trick, or by praising the death of that person.
