It is like this, having ascertained the three trainings, and those who have subdued their senses, in the quiet monasteries where practitioners gather, the elderly who have perfected celibacy, and those who have heard many collections of scriptures, those who spend their youth in the forests, are happy in this life and the next. Fourth, the characteristics of the extensive exposition are twofold: first, the actions concerning time, and the actual content of reciting the sutra. The first has six aspects: the faults of not listening to the Pratimoksha vows, prohibiting disharmony, making offerings and inferences, guiding into correct practice, the benefits of practice, and the faults of not practicing. The first is further divided into two aspects: speaking of the time with necessity, and the teachings on the place of study directly related to the faults of not listening. The first aspect is: addressing "Venerables" with pleasant words. "Soga" refers to the time, that is, the time for reciting the Uposatha, including winter, late season, spring, etc., summer, autumn, and whichever of these six seasons the Uposatha is recited, that time should be specified by name. "Men" refers to understanding that each season has four and a half months. Venerables, connect "winter men" etc. From the small month of autumn to the end of winter, and the first month of early winter, etc. How many months have passed and how many remain, say how many, for example, winter has four periods: the tenth of the small month, the end of the winter month, the fifteenth of the middle month. That is to say, on the tenth of the small month of autumn, Venerables, when the dawn breaks tomorrow, of the two months of winter, half has passed and half and two halves remain. And, on the end of the winter month, Venerables, of the two months of winter, one has passed and one remains. On the tenth of the end of winter, of the two months, half and half of half have passed and half remains. On the fifteenth of the middle month of winter, both months of winter have completely passed. And so on. Speaking of time like this is for mastering vocabulary, keeping the passage of time in mind, feeling weary of samsara and striving for virtue, and knowing the Uposatha day, etc. The second aspect is: Venerables, youth fades and old age, the aggregates decay and death manifests, and the teacher's teachings also pass with time, eventually decaying due to the decline of practice.

Those with life should practice yoga with the diligence of carefully taking and abandoning. The enlightenment of the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, and also any path similar to enlightenment, virtuous Dharma, aspects of enlightenment, such as the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, are also attained through diligence. If they do not listen to the recitation of the sutras, there will be the faults of the end of life, the coming of old age and death, and the destruction of the teachings, therefore they should listen and diligently strive to practice virtuous Dharma, this is what is taught. Secondly, the Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples has few thoughts and little activity of body and speech, therefore, apart from gathering for the Sojong, the first thing the Sangha should do is: before that, if there is anything important, those with life, residing in the monastic residence, should complete it, and ask those monks who have not come to the place of Sojong about their intention and purity. After asking, it should also be told to the monks. What is the necessity of offering intention and purity? Firstly, because they have not participated in the affairs of the Sangha, the fault of discord will not arise. Secondly, because the offerer himself will become the executor of the affairs. Thirdly, for Shakya Lion, joining the palms of ten fingers, reciting the five kinds of Pratimoksha Sutras, for the purpose of taming disciples, one should listen to the collector or reciter. Fourthly, after hearing the Pratimoksha, one should practice as the great sage Buddha said, not only abandoning the naturally unwholesome, but also relying on and striving to abandon the subtle transgressions that have been prescribed. For the aspect of virtue, one should always strive, for the mind-horse that is difficult to guide to the aspect of virtue, which needs to be whipped, because it can be tamed, it is suitable as a favorable condition, the rein of a hundred sharp needles is this Pratimoksha Sutra. Fifthly, those great self-natured ones who desire to learn, regardless of punishment, do not do things verbally, but restrain themselves and do not exceed the boundaries of learning, these are called like good horses, and will surely be victorious in the battlefield of afflictions. Sixthly, in other heretics etc., there is no rein of this Pratimoksha, when.
