It should be understood. The path of seeing is what makes one transcend the world, it is the cause of transformation. The path of meditation is the cause of being free from obstacles. Dedication is the cause of transforming to another place, fearlessness is the cause of faith in the Great Vehicle. Teaching the Dharma is the cause of understanding. The ten powers are the cause of attaining all qualities, thus knowing that obstacles etc. are the obstacles that cause them to arise and abide, etc., one should know the abandonment and antidote of them. Returning from that obstacle and combining with the root of virtue, is the place of birth, is true yoga, so the three births are the cause of generating the root of virtue. Likewise, the three, such as generating the root of virtue, are the cause of the Bodhi abiding, etc., and all the rest should be understood. Third, explaining the obstacles of the three antidotes, divided into two: general explanation and detailed explanation. First, indicated by direction and other shores, etc., the thirty-seven wings of enlightenment and the ten perfections and the obstacles of the ten grounds, are obstacles of a different category from those mentioned above. Second, divided into three: the obstacles of the wings of enlightenment, the obstacles of the perfections, and the obstacles of the grounds. First, indicated by not being skilled in the ground, etc., in the ground of observation and determination, that is, the four, body, feeling, mind, and phenomena, successively clinging to purity, happiness, self, and self, and not being skilled in the impurity of their nature, etc., is the obstacle of the four mindfulnesses. Laziness, etc. is the obstacle of the four right exertions. Having the opposing sinking and excitement, and the two lacking favorable conditions such as desire and diligence, falling away from obtaining samadhi, is the obstacle of the four legs of miraculous power. Not generating faith, etc. in one's own mindstream, is the obstacle of the five faculties. Even if generated, the power of faith, etc. is weak, and can be overcome by their respective unfavorable qualities, is the obstacle of the five powers. Having the view of the perishable aggregate, etc. that are to be abandoned by seeing, is the obstacle of the seven branches of enlightenment. The accumulation of faults of the co-emergent negative habits arising from the three doors, is the obstacle of the eightfold noble path. Second, indicated by the rich man and so on, stinginess is the obstacle to generosity.
