is said to be the afflictions of birth or life. Since all of these arise from incorrect conceptualization, they repeatedly bind sentient beings to samsara and cause them suffering, hence the name. Secondly, the nature of liberation has two parts: a summary and a detailed explanation. First, it is shown by emptiness and so on. That is, the meaning of emptiness, which has become the state of liberation separated from samsara itself, which is included in the cause of karma and afflictions, and the result of suffering, is summarized as follows: the self-nature of emptiness, and also its name, the enumeration of names, the meaning of that enumeration, the division of emptiness, and the establishment of the validity of establishing it as defiled and undefiled. In this way, one should know how to establish its mode through five kinds of categories of meaning. Second, a detailed explanation. Similar to the order of the above summary, there are five sections. The first is the characteristic. The second is shown by non-existence and so on. The non-existence of the reality of the two objects of grasping and the existence of the reality of the non-existence of the reality of those two is the characteristic of emptiness. Because the two objects of grasping are completely cut off, the emptiness that is established by the absence of those two is established as the complete determination, therefore it is suchness. Thus, it is not present in the essence of the grasped and the grasper, nor is it absent in the essence of the two emptinesses, and the nature of the two emptinesses, which are the object of thought that is not correct and the nature of reality, are not the characteristics of being different and the same, because the two are negated in sequence and the two emptinesses are established. If there is no two emptinesses, then the two grasped and graspers will exist, because the negation of negation is proof, and the two emptinesses and the conceptualization are not the same entity, although the experience of conceptualization is established by seeing from this shore, but you are not established. Nor are they different, because they abide in the manner of the nature of reality. Second, it is shown by emptiness is and so on. The name of emptiness, if summarized, is suchness, the ultimate end, the signless, the ultimate truth, and the realm of phenomena. These are the names of emptiness. Third, it is shown by non-other and so on. The aforementioned

The meaning of these five names is: Because it does not change into anything else, it remains the same as before, so it is called Suchness. Similarly, because it is the true state of affairs that is not inverted, it is the true limit. Emptiness is the nature of eliminating all elaborations, so it is without characteristics. Reality is the pure realm of the wisdom of the noble ones who possess it, so it is the ultimate truth. Because it gives rise to all the qualities of the path, it is the cause or element of the noble dharmas, so it is called the Dharmadhatu. These are the meanings of the above names, and they should be applied in order. Fourth, the classification has two types of classification and sixteen types of classification. First, it is shown by all afflictions, etc.: Emptiness can be divided into two types: Suchness with defilements, which includes all afflictions, and Suchness without defilements, which is purified from the two obscurations. If it is with defilements, then it is unreasonable for the nature to be pure. It is not unreasonable, just as the nature of the water element, gold, and space are pure, so too, Suchness is considered to be pure in its nature from the beginning, and impurity does not exist in its state. Second, it is shown by the eater, the eaten, etc.: Although emptiness has no difference in its nature, from the difference of the empty base dharmas, etc., sixteen emptinesses are taught. What are they? The enjoyer or eater of external objects, the aspect of the six internal sources such as the eye, etc., that are not established in their nature, is called internal emptiness. Similarly, the aspect of the six external sources that are eaten or enjoyed, which have no self-nature, is called external emptiness. The basis or body of the internal and external dharmas, that is, the emptiness of all bases, is called internal-external emptiness. The basis of the place, the container world, the emptiness of the nature encompassed by the ten directions, is called great emptiness, that is, from the different perspectives of the dharmas, the emptiness of this and that is spoken of. Thus, all dharmas encompassed by internal and external are empty.
