What is explained is that, like the three doors of liberation, the ten perfections, the ten grounds and five paths, the dharani (藏文,དྲང་,梵文天城体,陀罗尼,梵文罗马拟音,dhāraṇī,holding, guarding) and samadhi, etc., for the many profound and vast aspects of the Dharma that are taught, to contemplate them without error as they are said. How to contemplate? Know that bodhisattvas always contemplate these profound and vast meanings of the Dharma with the three wisdoms of hearing, thinking, and meditating. Second, it is taught by "increasing the element," etc. Thus, by contemplating the meaning of the Great Vehicle with the wisdom of hearing, one can increase the qualities of the lineage or element. By thinking deeply about its meaning with the wisdom of thinking, and by contemplating with meditation, one will completely accomplish the meanings to be pursued on one's own path. Starting from entering the ground, one will gradually accomplish the ultimate fruit. The second part is divided into two parts: a summary and a detailed explanation. First, it is taught by "that is Dharma practice," etc. To contemplate the Dharma of the Great Vehicle, if it is widely divided, know that it is completely in accordance with the ten Dharma practices. The second part is divided into explaining the nature and benefits of the ten Dharma practices, and especially explaining the benefits of the Great Vehicle Dharma practices. First, it is taught by "writing letters and making offerings," etc. To summarize all the ways of upholding or practicing the holy Dharma, it is summarized into the ten types mentioned above. What are they? Writing the letters that are the basis of the holy Dharma included in the Small and Great Vehicles, making offerings to the Dharma and the speaker of the Dharma, giving alms for the sake of the speaker of the Dharma and the Dharma, listening to the words of the Dharma with the ear faculty, reading the scriptures of the Dharma, holding the words that express the meaning, explaining the meaning of the words to others, remembering what has already been held, reciting, remembering the meaning of the Dharma, and meditating with a focused mind in accordance with the Dharma. These ten include all actions related to the holy Dharma, so they are called the ten Dharma practices. The nature of these ten practices, each one has immeasurable and boundless merit, because the holy Dharma is the source of all benefit and happiness.

Because it is the ground and the path that transcends the world, all activities related to it are extremely important. As stated in the sutras, the benefits of writing a single verse and hearing are also far superior to all worldly virtues. Second, it is indicated by "especially, because," etc. Why do the Tathagata sutras only particularly praise the Mahayana Dharma practices? Writing the Mahayana Dharma, etc., the ten Mahayana Dharma practices, are more superior than those of the Hinayana. Because the Mahayana path is more superior than the Shravaka path, and it possesses inconceivable qualities and fruits that do not exhaust even in the realm of complete nirvana, such as body and wisdom, the Dharma that teaches such a path and fruit is even more superior. Therefore, the benefits of writing, etc., are also equally superior. As just mentioned, the Shravaka path only aims to achieve one's own benefit, while the Mahayana path mainly aims to benefit others, and its fruit, the activity of actions, will not cease as long as the realm of sentient beings exists. Third, regarding the practice in accordance, it is divided into two parts: summary and detailed explanation. The first part is indicated by "non-distraction, non-confusion," etc. What is the practice in accordance with the Dharma? Not being distracted from the meaning of the object of shamatha-vipassana, and seeing the nature of things as they are through vipassana, this is called the practice in accordance with the Dharma. Because it is practicing in accordance with the meaning explained in the Mahayana Dharma. That is, relying on the samadhi that does not scatter outwards, with immaculate wisdom, one can realize the nature of things as they are, therefore shamatha and vipassana can both practice the meaning of the Dharma. The second part is divided into two parts: non-distraction is shamatha, and non-confusion is the detailed explanation of vipassana. The first part is indicated by "arising and object," etc. What is non-distracted shamatha? It is the samadhi that is free from the six kinds of distractions.
