It is not. All phenomena arise dependently, devoid of a creator. For example, seeds and ignorance do not think, "I" produce things like sprouts and actions, and sprouts and actions do not think, "I" am produced by them. Just as they arise in the manner of unfailing dependent origination, so too are all phenomena. All conditioned phenomena are momentary, and there is no difference in the way they arise and cease as cause and effect. Therefore, even in the case of first considering a person's thoughts, then making food, clothing, shelter, etc., and enjoying them oneself, it is only due to habit that one is labeled as the creator, etc., but in reality, there is no established creator. For example, thinking of eating in the autumn, the thought of a man wanting to sow seeds in the spring, although it is a closely beneficial cause for gathering the collection of causes for crops, it itself is also produced by other prior causes. It is not that crops can be freely produced by that thought alone, but rather, after countless causes occurring outside of it have gathered, crops are finally produced. When the fruit, the crop, arises, all the causes have ceased, therefore, there is no truly established creator of the crop. Because it is accomplished by the causes of various phenomena, and these causes are also momentary, the creator cannot be found. However, like the clinging to the creator in the statement, "This tree was planted by this person," the continuum of the aggregates of that person who initially gathered the collection of causes is merely labeled as the creator. Know that all worldly conventions are established in this way. Fifth, it is indicated by "not desiring and desiring," etc. In general, knowing what is appropriate and inappropriate is very extensive. For example, what fruit arises from what cause, and what fruit does not arise; what fruit depends on what cause, and what fruit does not depend on what cause, etc., like such ways of existence and non-existence, or through understanding what is appropriate and inappropriate, one can engage in taking and abandoning all subtle and gross actions of samsara and nirvana. Therefore, here, by indicating the seven aspects of other-power, it is indicated that one should be skilled in all ways of what is appropriate and inappropriate. What is that?

It is like being unwillingly led to evil destinies by the karma of misusing one's desires, being dominated by other forces; and like obtaining desired happy realms by the karma of well using one's desires, being dominated by other forces; and like not attaining purity without abandoning obscurations while meditating on the path of pure other-power; and like the co-emergent other-power, because of accumulating incomparable karma, two Buddhas and two Chakravartins do not appear together in one world; and like the empowering other-power, one cannot possess the seven treasures such as the wheel jewel in the basis of a female body; and like the attainable other-power, one cannot attain the state of a Pratyekabuddha and Buddhahood itself in the basis of a female body; the universally practiced other-power is like the noble ones not universally practicing killing and so on. Thus, these seven, summarized by the three other-powers of karma, afflictions, and life, are the meaning of other-power itself. For example, going to bad destinies by non-virtuous karma is certain, and going to good destinies by it is uncertain and has no opportunity. This is called the unwanted other-power. Although no one wants to go to bad destinies, it is due to the other-power of past non-virtuous karma, which cannot be reversed by one's own will. Similarly, going to good destinies by virtuous karma is certain, and going to bad destinies is uncertain, so obtaining the desired good destiny also depends on the other-power of past virtuous karma, and it is not entered by one's own will. Similarly, obtaining purity from abandoning obscurations, and not obtaining it if not abandoned, and so on, for the remaining examples, one should also understand the respective certain and uncertain situations, and by taking this as an example, understand that the nature of all phenomena, its original state, cannot be altered by individual will, and thus become skilled in the principles of affirmation and negation, of what is certain in what place, and what is uncertain and has no opportunity in what place. Sixth, it is indicated by grasping, existence, and so on. This is also said in response to the Brahmin's question about nature, stating twenty-two faculties, namely the five physical faculties such as the eye faculty, and the mind faculty, the life faculty, the male faculty, and the female faculty.
