The signs of attachment to the side of things, and the signs of attachment to the antidote of abandonment, such as impurity, and the signs of attachment to the object of focus, such as suchness, and the signs of attachment to the object of cognition or the fruit of the path, such as right view and the ten powers, are cognitions that have become the opposite of wisdom. By completely abandoning these, one obtains the complete purification of wisdom. Abandoning these four signs, as in the above order, the coarse, the medium, the subtle, and the long-lasting signs that are connected to my continuum, is the way to gradually and completely abandon the difficult signs. As it is said in the Sutra Showing the Dharani of Non-Discrimination. Among them, attachment and so on, which are the cause of suffering, and all the afflicted dharmas, are easy to realize and easy to renounce. Therefore, the sign of attachment to the opposite side is coarse, and it is abandoned first. Its antidote, such as impurity, is seen as a virtue, which is a medium sign, and it is abandoned after the former. Suchness is the supreme antidote to all that is to be abandoned, and it is the supreme object to be realized. Therefore, attachment to it and holding it as a sign is a subtle discrimination that is difficult to abandon, and it is abandoned after the former. The sign of attachment to discrimination is abandoned after all, because at the time of the ground and the path, the subtle desire to obtain the higher discrimination is not abandoned, so it is connected for a long time, until the pure non-discriminating wisdom is fully matured, and it is connected to the continuum in the form of subtle discrimination. Third, entering into the true yoga also has four ways: first, it is entering into the yoga of focusing on all dharmas as mind-only, and relying on that, entering into the yoga of not focusing on the object of grasping, and relying on that, entering into the yoga of not focusing on the object of grasping or the grasping itself, and relying on that, entering into the yoga of not focusing on either the object of grasping or the grasper, but focusing on suchness, it should be known that this is the way to generate non-discriminating wisdom. Among them, it is easy to realize that external objects have no self-nature, and therefore it is difficult to realize the non-focusing of the grasper, and so on.

The way to generate gradually in the continuum is similar to what is said in the samadhi of obtaining warmth, etc. Fourth, entering into its nature is to be known in three ways: the nature of the dharma abiding in its own nature, the nature of not attending to it, and the nature of attending to it. First, the nature of all dharmas, the very nature of suchness abiding, in which there is no distinction in mind between the two apprehenders or the two truths, and the dharma that cannot be expressed in any way or manner by speech, is the ultimate abode. Moreover, the ultimate is the understanding that the two truths are inseparable and of one taste, which the wisdom of the Buddhas sees as it is, and there is conformity to it on the path of learning. Second, from obtaining the non-conceptual wisdom without appearance, thus in the non-conceptual root consciousness, the appearance of the two apprehenders 1, and clinging to that dualistic appearance, with conceptual a mind, how it appears, thus it is manifestly expressed, that is, the inner expression, or 2 the mind distinguishes between the apprehended and the apprehender, 3 the inner faculties such as the eyes 4, and the external objects such as forms, 5 the consciousnesses such as eye consciousness, 6 the common vessel world appears, all of these completely disappear and are non-existent, therefore that which is not distinguished by anything, the suchness appears as one taste, that is, the dualistic appearance disappears in emptiness. Therefore, the six meanings just explained are in order: the consciousness of the senses and so on cannot be examined 1, cannot be expressed by speech 2, the place or basis where consciousness arises is non-existent 3, there is no appearance as an object 4, and there is no object-possessing consciousness 5, there is no common basis, the place of the vessel 6, thus it is the explanation of the nature of non-conceptual wisdom, which the Tathagata said in the sutras, and is explained here. How is it said in the prophecy of the Light Protector's question in the Jewel Heap Sutra? Light Protector, this which is called permanent is one extreme. This which is called impermanent is two extremes. What is in the middle of the two extremes is inconceivable, inexpressible, not a basis, without appearance, consciousness.
