A Commentary on the Verses Differentiating Dharma and Dharmata—Discriminating Wisdom Light. A Commentary on the Verses Differentiating Dharma and Dharmata—Discriminating Wisdom Light. a ṭīkra jñāna bhāsa bi bhākti dharmā dharma tā bi bhaṃ ga kārikā yā rbi ha ra ti sma (Sanskrit transliteration: a ṭīkra jñāna bhāsa bi bhākti dharmā dharma tā bi bhaṃ ga kārikā yā rbi ha ra ti sma, literal Chinese meaning: Treatise, wisdom, light, distinction, dharma, dharmata, distinction, author, action, here, bring, remembrance.) A Commentary on the Verses Differentiating Dharma and Dharmata—Discriminating Wisdom Light, is present. b By the non-conceptual wisdom vajra, Completely destroying the mountains of grasping and the grasped, Having attained the inconceivable wisdom body, To the supreme teacher, the Sage, I pay homage. Whose profound and vast treasury of dharma, Is held by the son of the conquerors, Manjushri, The regent, master of the ten bhumis, the Invincible, His lotus feet, like jewels, I hold as an ornament on my crown. Here, the treasury of dharma of the Great Vehicle, Which is the essence among all, The meaning of the profound non-conceptual wisdom, I will explain the great treatise that clarifies it. Furthermore, the noble Asanga, son of the conquerors, practiced Maitreya for twelve years, and finally, he revealed his face directly, and led him to the abode of the gods in Tushita. a. This is the teaching of the five dharmas, namely the two ornaments, the two distinctions, and the Uttaratantra, which are treatises that explain the intention of all the Buddha's words. Some scholars consider all five to be in the form of a single treatise. Others refute the idea that the three vehicles and the one vehicle are explained as the ultimate meaning, and because the ultimate teachings are inconsistent, they reject the idea that the nature of the treatises is one. The self-school considers them to be explanations of the intention of each of the Buddha's words. Among them, the first and last two are Madhyamaka, and the middle three are considered to be explanations of the intention of Cittamātra. Or it is considered that only the Abhisamayalankara is a Cittamātra text, and the other four are Madhyamaka. Or it is considered that the Abhisamayalankara is Madhyamaka, and the other four are Cittamātra. Some also believe that all five abide in the intention of Cittamātra, and others believe that all five abide in the intention of Madhyamaka, and so on. But in reality, the Abhisamayalankara is an explanation of the intention of the middle Buddha's words, the Prajnaparamita, and the Uttaratantra is an undisputed explanation of the intention of the sutras that teach the definitive meaning of the Tathagatagarbha of the last turning of the wheel. The ultimate tenet that the two explain is the same.

and agree that it is the One Vehicle, and their views are consistent in understanding the meaning of Madhyamaka. bThe Ornament of the Sutras is a commentary that combines the meanings of most of the sutras other than those explained by the previous two. It mainly explains the views of the Mind-Only sutras, without necessarily stating that the lineages and vehicles are the same. These two 'Distinguishings' serve to show the vastness and profundity of the general Mahayana. Although they extensively explain the three natures and the non-establishment of external objects, it is not necessarily the case that they become solely Mind-Only treatises. There is no contradiction in presenting the Madhyamaka view using these Dharma terms. As the Lankavatara Sutra says, 'The five dharmas, the three natures, the eight aggregates of consciousness, and the two aspects of selflessness are all included in the Great Vehicle.' This shows that these Dharma terms are the general summary of all Mahayana. In the Sutra Requested by Maitreya, which clarifies the intention of the Mother Sutra, it is also explicitly stated that these Dharma terms of the three essences are taught. Since there is no assertion, as in the Mind-Only school, that the consciousness of the two graspers is truly established, there are no words or reasons that necessarily require such an assertion. Therefore, there is no fault in explaining it as a common commentary on the general Mahayana without being biased, and the structure of the treatise is such. Therefore, the Distinguishing Middle from Extremes is a treatise that shows the vast arrangement of the paths of the three vehicles, and the Distinguishing Dharma from Dharmata is in accordance with the union of the two truths, the Madhyamaka Yogacara tradition. It is a treatise that establishes the essence of all profound sutras, the non-conceptual wisdom. Therefore, because it is extremely profound, this and the Sublime Continuum were sealed as secret teachings, and later in India, even copies were not available. Later, Lord Maitripa saw light coming from a pillar of a stupa and extracted copies of the Distinguishing Dharma from Dharmata and the Sublime Continuum, which were then propagated again. When Zha-ma Lotsawa Seng-ge Gyaltsen was translating and editing the copy of the Dharma-Dharmata-Vibhanga, the Pandit gave him one page at a time and instructed him, 'Do not waste it, this is a precious copy of the sacred teachings.' bWhen Zha-ma Lotsawa Seng-ge Gyaltsen was translating and editing the copy of the Dharma-Dharmata-Vibhanga, the Pandit gave him one page at a time and instructed him, 'Do not waste it, this is a precious copy of the sacred teachings.'
