If this were to cease to exist, then the venerable Maitreya would demonstrate parinirvana in Jambudvipa. As it is said with great emphasis, since this is the profound meaning that reveals the definitive secret of the view, all Mahayana practitioners must understand this view in this way, and it is not permissible to explain it according to the tenets of Madhyamaka or Cittamatra. For example, with regard to the Prajnaparamita Sutra, the Madhyamaka and Cittamatra teachers each explain it according to their own tenets, but the ultimate intention of that scripture remains in Madhyamaka. This scripture is also the same; although there are those who consider it to be a treatise that reveals the view of Cittamatra, it is not contradictory to explain it in that way by combining it with one's own intelligence. However, in reality, this scripture clearly reveals the ultimate profound meaning of the Mahayana, which is what the non-conceptual wisdom itself is like. Therefore, it becomes a general commentary on all the profound Sutras. The assertion of conventional phenomena is in accordance with Cittamatra, while the assertion of ultimate reality, the nature of phenomena, is in accordance with Madhyamaka. Therefore, the ultimate intention remains in Madhyamaka, and if it is understood and explained as a fusion of Madhyamaka and Cittamatra, revealing the key points of the Mahayana view, then it will become an explanation of the deep meaning of this great treatise. To explain such a great treatise, there are four aspects: the meaning of the title, the homage in the translation, the meaning of the treatise, and the meaning of the conclusion. First, in the Indian language, it is Dharma (梵文天城体:धर्म,梵文罗马拟音:dharma,汉语字面意思:法), in Tibetan it is ཆོས (law). Similarly, combining them, Dharmata (梵文天城体:धर्मता,梵文罗马拟音:dharmatā,汉语字面意思:法性), Vibhanga (梵文天城体:विभङ्ग,梵文罗马拟音:vibhaṅga,汉语字面意思:分别), Karika (梵文天城体:कारिका,梵文罗马拟音:kārikā,汉语字面意思:颂), which means that in order to unerringly show what the nature of phenomenal samsara and the nature of nirvana are like, that name is shown and distinguished. Second, becoming the protector of all beings, with the qualities of great love, from the stage of a Bodhisattva to Buddhahood, not abandoning the fame of the name Maitreya, the great Bodhisattva who is destined to be enlightened in one lifetime, now residing in Tushita (དགའ་ལྡན, transliteration, located in Uttar Pradesh, India), the translators, at the beginning of translating this treatise, prostrate with great reverence of body, speech, and mind. Third, it is divided into two parts: the limbs of engaging in writing the treatise and the actual content of the treatise to be written. The first part has one verse.
