Whether it be a son of the earth or a daughter of a noble family, if one were to give as much as one desires to the four kinds of beings in each of the ten directions' world realms for countless eons, it would be better for a son or daughter of a noble family to strive for the sake of convincing others by saying, 'The Tathagata is permanent, the Tathagata is unchanging.' Even just uttering these words will generate immeasurable merit, far exceeding the former. Furthermore, in the Great Nirvana Sutra, it says: 'Sons or daughters of noble families, you should always diligently and with single-pointed mind believe that the Buddha is permanent and abiding.' Also, if one diligently cultivates the perception of permanence towards the inconceivable, that is a place of refuge. And so on. If one views the body of the Tathagata as impermanent, even taking refuge is meaningless. If one views the Vajra body as impermanent, immeasurable faults will arise, as stated in the sutras. Having understood these points, one should develop reverence for the true meaning. Thus, the essence of the Sugata-garbha is the nature that is free from all elaborations such as existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation. It is the single bindu of indivisible truth, the nature of equality. In that state, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are seen as one taste, and seeing it as it is, is the true view, free from all grasping with seeing the meaning without acceptance or rejection, is the excellent view of realizing the ultimate meaning. In the Sutra Showing the Aspects of Enlightenment, it says: 'Manjushri, whoever sees all dharmas as undifferentiated, non-dual, and without duality, this is the correct view.' Furthermore, in the Sutra Requested by Akashagarbha, it says: 'Knowing the distinction between existence and non-existence, abiding at the edge of reality, the wise do not grasp the view of existence and non-existence.' Also, in the Bodhisattva Pitaka, it says: 'In the ultimate truth, in the presence of the wisdom and knowledge of the noble ones, there is no dharma that can be fully known, abandoned, cultivated, or realized.' As it is said in the sutra. However, when distinguishing well with the measure of conventional terms, knowing truth as truth, knowing the noble path as not deceptive, and so on, and for untruth.

Like knowing untruth, saying that liberation is attained through meditating on self is a reversed view; knowing impermanence, knowing that all conditioned phenomena are momentary; knowing permanence, knowing that the Tathagatagarbha's self-arisen wisdom is complete in all aspects and unchanging; like knowing non-existence, knowing that what appears as self and grasping is not established in its own nature; clinging to existence, the infallible appearance of dependent origination of cause and effect; and knowing that all sentient beings possess the nature of the Tathagatagarbha, which is the spontaneously accomplished quality, existing in its own nature, and so on. These, in conventional terms, are the ways of holding wisdom that are not reversed with regard to the reality of things. Therefore, knowing and abiding in this way, one obtains great qualities, because it is the root of virtue without ignorance. Thus, in the sutras, many dharmas are taught through general and specific means. In particular, regarding the selflessness of persons, the Tathagatagarbha, which transcends the two elaborations of self and no-self, is also taught as the great self, and the supreme qualities that transcend purity, bliss, permanence, and self are taught in order to know that the great, peaceful, cool, rich, and ultimate qualities of non-abiding nirvana are unchanging, and that existence is existence. As it is said in the Nirvana Sutra: "What is called self is the dharma that is true, correct, constant, autonomous, unchanging, and unmoving; this is called self." And so on. Thus, hearing the explanation of the profound principle of the Tathagatagarbha, even just having faith in it produces immeasurable benefits. As it is said in the Uttaratantra: "The wise who have faith in the realm of the Victorious Ones become vessels of the accumulation of Buddha qualities. Being joyful in the accumulation of qualities beyond thought surpasses the merit of all sentient beings. Whoever strives for the sake of enlightenment, adorning fields with gold and jewels, equal to the dust of Buddha-fields, constantly offering them to the Dharma Kings every day, if another hears just a word of this, and having heard it, has faith, these qualities, this person will obtain immeasurable superior merit compared to the virtues arising from giving. The wise who desire unsurpassed enlightenment, even for many kalpas,
