That which measures an existing thing as it is, is valid cognition. Since its object of knowledge is impermanent, the measuring valid cognition is also impermanent, and thus arises sequentially. If it were permanent, it would be established by valid cognition as devoid of the ability to perform functions, and therefore it would be certain to be devoid of all actions such as measuring objects. Therefore, it is extremely unreasonable for omniscience to be permanent, and it is established as impermanent. Similarly, all things are impermanent, and even if non-things are falsely labeled as permanent, there is no basis for permanence, so no characteristic of permanence can be found. This reasoning must be established in this way for outsiders and common vehicles who have not trained their minds in the nature of inconceivable dharmata. Because for the alaya-consciousness, there is no other way to appear. However, if we consider the perspective of the wisdom of complete transformation, omniscience is established as permanent. Because the objects of knowledge that arise and cease momentarily, which are presented as proof of its impermanence, and the subject-wisdom also arise sequentially in moments, etc., are merely appearances to those who have not completely transformed. In reality, it is not established as such, because no dharma arises in a single moment, let alone the temporal order initiated by it being established. For example, in a dream, the appearance of one's own mind seems to have endless temporal and spatial dimensions, but it is not established as such. Therefore, the meaning of dharmata being without arising and ceasing, in the ultimate wisdom of complete transformation, is the wisdom-body of inseparable knower and known. Even when not transformed, the luminosity of the mind's nature or dharmata, which is co-emergent and self-luminous, is unchanging. Without any difference between before and after, it is called the naturally abiding lineage. The changing, sudden, and easily separable stains that arise and cease momentarily in sequence, and the inequalities such as samsara and nirvana, good and bad, appear to the dualistic mind that has not transformed as true and undeniable. However, in the essence, arising and ceasing and duality are not established, but it abides in great equality. Within that, spatial dimensions and

All changes of time are encompassed, and that exists in the realm of the self-cognizant wisdom of the noble ones individually. Since the changes of the three times cannot be traced back, why should it not be given the name of great permanence? Because whatever exists is not momentary arising and ceasing. Thus, all changing things and non-things such as space, all knowable things of direction and time, are equally contained within that Dharma-nature. However, that Dharma-nature is not contained by any changing things or other dharmas. For example, clouds gather in the sky, but the sky does not gather in the clouds. Therefore, the Dharma-nature, the great equality, the nature of the luminous expanse, exists co-emergent, naturally pervading all things with the unique self-born wisdom. However, for those with sudden defilements, when their own nature has not manifested, through the power of abandonment and realization contained in the five paths that eliminate defilements, when that great wisdom without distinction between knower and known is attained, the self-born wisdom, all unchanging knowable things, are equal in the nature of Dharma-nature, effortlessly and spontaneously knowing without conceptualization, and the wisdom of omniscience is attained. However, in that way, self-born wisdom does not arise from a cause, but truly, the Dharma-body free from sudden defilements becomes the result of freedom. What appears to arise newly from a cause is merely an appearance in a state that has not transformed. In the true sense, the nature of Dharma-nature, the essence of the Dharma-body, is without arising or ceasing, and all dharmas are enlightened from the beginning as the manifestation of equality, or from the beginning are peaceful, nirvanic, naturally luminous, etc. These ultimate intentions of the profound sutras are difficult for even the bodhisattvas on the bhumis to contemplate, let alone ordinary people. However, if faith arises properly, it is praised as being similar to receiving a prophecy of non-retrogression, therefore one should have faith in this principle. If the wisdom body of the Tathagata is viewed as permanent in that way, merit will arise. In the Sutra of Samadhi called "The Magical Display of Perfect Tranquility," it says: Manjushri,
