Thinking of this, the degeneration of the times is rampant, and those who uphold the Dharma, through the inverted way of the four reliances, have caused the essence of the supreme Mahayana to mostly decline, and there have appeared imitations that resemble the Dharma. Even to have a heart of compassion for this lifeblood of the Mahayana path is rare. However, through the power of the ancient Nyingma lineage holders who uphold the Dharma, I have seen and heard many precious oral instructions of the lineage, and I have had the good fortune to take the lotus feet of many authentic spiritual friends, such as the embodiment of Padmasambhava, the manifestation of Manjushri Kumara, and the all-knowing Dorje Ziji, upon my head. By the power of this good fortune, even though I am young in age and my intelligence is immature, I have gained some confidence in this profound subject. Thus, the union free from all extremes, the state of not abiding anywhere, the nature of the Dharmadhatu abiding in itself, and the eloquent speech on the meaning of the lineage, this is the lion's roar. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by Brahma Vishesha Citta: 'Son of the gods, to speak without attachment to any dharma is the lion's roar. To speak with attachment to such a dharma is not the lion's roar, but the roar of a jackal. To teach that which gives rise to all views, that is without the lion's roar.' And as it is said in the Great Nirvana Sutra: 'To proclaim the lion's roar is to say that all beings have the Buddha-nature, and that the Tathagata abides eternally and is definitely unchangeable.' And again: 'Son of the lineage, even if you speak much about the abode of emptiness, it should not be called proclaiming the lion's roar. To proclaim it in the midst of a large gathering of wise and learned people is called proclaiming the great lion's roar.' That one who proclaims the lion's roar should not say that all dharmas are impermanent, suffering, selfless, and impure, but should only say that the Tathagata is permanent, blissful, self, and pure.' And so forth, the metaphors and meanings of proclaiming the lion's roar are extensively explained, and should be understood. If, in this way, one speaks straightforwardly about the Sugata's own path, even if it does not agree with the views of some, because the correct path has been established as it is, one should not cause others to be displeased. As it is said in the Introduction to the Middle Way: 'Because of attachment to debate and analysis in the treatises, one has not made liberation.'

Thus, it is taught as that very nature. If that very nature is further explained, there is no fault in destroying other doctrines. So it is. Such a way is also protecting the Dharma, as it says in the King of Samādhi Sūtra: "What is protecting the Dharma? It is to subdue those who revile the Buddha's Dharma in accordance with the Dharma." So it is. It is also holding the Dharma, as asked by the Treasury of Space: "Who has attained the nature of the Victorious One's enlightenment? That is the one who fully holds the nature of the Dharma. Who knows well this stainless boundary? That is the Dharma holder of all Buddhas." So it is. Such a Dharma holder is repaying the kindness of the Buddhas and also attains immeasurable merit, as it says in the Sūtra of the Great Compassion of the Thus-Gone One: "Thus, relying on the Dharma of the Victorious One, it is determined by the Dharma and not mixed with defilements. Therefore, whoever holds the Dharma of the Well-Gone One, that is repaying the kindness of all Buddhas." So it is. The Treasury of Space Sūtra says: "Even if one were to speak for hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas, the wisdom of the Buddha would not have an end. Likewise, the merit of holding the Thus-Gone One's sacred Dharma is also without measure." Thus it is said. Here, although I have some courage to speak about the tenets of the Supreme Vehicle, who would trust the words of this mad monk who is young and whose learning is not mature? People nowadays follow after fame, devoid of the wisdom to discern right from wrong, mostly disturbed by the demon of jealousy. I know that it is not the time to speak well. However, because I always respectfully worship the supreme Guru and the special deity in the lotus of my heart, the words and meanings of the good scriptures arise clearly in the realm of awareness. At that time, taking delight in the habit of good speech, a long-lasting joy arises, and even in future lives, in other realms, like the waxing moon, the joy in the Victorious One's Dharma increases. From this talk of the ultimate depth, if the intelligent ones generate joy, what can surpass the happiness of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa? Therefore, this is a feast of joy for the assembly of the fortunate ones. With the lion's roar of the Supreme Vehicle, the union of appearance and emptiness, devoid of all clinging to inherent existence, crushing the herds of wild animals of wrong views.
