And the great compassion that destroys them should be understood like the wind. There are four extensive explanations of metaphors. Why are they similar? Because the water of wisdom possesses the precious qualities of manifest consciousness and so on, therefore all lands are like the ocean. Because it is the source of benefit and happiness for all sentient beings, that is, the basis of sustenance. The two accumulations are like the sun. Because it pervades everything and is vast, without beginning or middle, Bodhi is like the realm of space. Because it possesses the inexhaustible wealth of qualities of the nature of the perfectly complete Buddha, the realm of sentient beings is like a treasure. Because what is to be abandoned is temporary, and pervades the nature, and is not established as the nature of the realm, therefore the obscurations of the pure realm, afflictions, are like clouds, and showing the path that dispels the obscurations is because of being near and abiding. Great compassion is like an unbearable and violent storm. In short, it is the way of being uninterrupted. Previously, when accumulating the two accumulations on the ten bhumis, one vowed to liberate all sentient beings, and because it is completely determined by the intention to benefit others, now when attaining Bodhi, one sees oneself and sentient beings as equal in purity in the nature of reality, and knows that the activities are meaningful, and because the great compassionate activity of cutting off the obstacles of limitless sentient beings in the world is not yet complete, therefore as long as samsara exists, the activity will not cease. These four should be determined by metaphors. Summarizing, distinguishing by metaphors. Determining the activity by metaphors is: although the Buddha is uncreated, he appears in birth and death; although there is no discrimination, it is spontaneously accomplished; it shows that it does not contradict entering uninterruptedly. The appearance of the body is like Indra, the good teachings of speech are like the sound of a drum, the pervasiveness of the wisdom and compassion of the mind is like clouds, showing various emanations is like Brahma, the unfolding of wisdom is like the sun, the secret of the mind is like a precious jewel, the secret of the Tathagata's speech is like an echo, the secret of the body is like space, and the activity of benefiting others is like the earth. Explaining separately by combining with the meaning. Stating the necessity, thereby summarizing the essential points. Summarizing again.

In summary, the distinctions are explained. The nine aspects of individual entities. The example of how to display transformations is like Indra. The initial teaching has three aspects. Although there is no conceptual thought, the benefit of others is accomplished. This is well-combined and explained. In summary, it is the principle of no arising and ceasing. Accomplishing the benefit of others without conceptual thought has two aspects: the metaphor that represents it and the meaning that is represented. The metaphor also has four aspects: images appear on a pure ground. Just as the surface of Jambudvipa entirely transforms into a precious, pure beryl, like a clear mirror reflecting images, because the ground is extremely pure, the lord of the gods on the peak of Mount Meru, along with his retinue of countless attendants, including groups of goddesses, and the principal's abode, the supremely beautiful and victorious palace, as well as other beautiful celestial cities, and the celestial lord's palace led by the wheel, and various other arrangements, and the ground, trees, streets, and other pleasing celestial objects and many other appearances are seen as images. This inspires virtuous actions. Having seen this, the men and women of Jambudvipa, those people who dwell on the earth, see such an immeasurable appearance and think, "May we also quickly become like this Indra, with perfect enjoyment." They make many such aspirations, and in order to attain the state of Indra, they begin to uphold some precepts and engage in virtuous deeds, and they practice them properly. Through that action, they attain the desired state. Those people, through pure virtuous actions such as upholding precepts, see the appearance of Indra and so on, although it is merely the appearance of an image, and not the actual coming of Indra and so on, they do not understand this principle, but grasp the image as real, and thereby engage in virtuous actions, and thus rise from the earth and are reborn as gods. Meaning is accomplished effortlessly. The appearance of Indra on the beryl ground, in reality, (Indra) does not have the conceptual thought of causing the people of Jambudvipa to enter into virtuous actions, nor does he move with effort. Although this is so, it causes those who dwell on the earth
