It is shown by the example of the moon appearing in clear water. There are also two ways to show them separately: the qualities of the Dharmakaya, which is the fruit of separation, and the qualities of the Rupakaya, which is the fruit of maturation. The first also has two aspects: showing them separately with examples, and showing them collectively as non-different. There are also three ways of showing them, among which there are two ways of showing the powers with the vajra. The first is the method of showing them separately. Among the ten powers that are similar to the vajra, the first six powers, such as knowing what is and is not the place, the three middle powers, such as being without defilements of afflictions, and the last power of knowing the exhaustion of outflows, respectively eliminate all the obscurations of knowable objects, meditative absorption, and habitual tendencies, just like armor is strong, walls are stable, and trees are thick, for the sake of piercing, destroying, and cutting. The second is the method of showing them in common. Steadfastness, essence, firmness, and indivisibility—these four qualities make the powers of the Sugata Buddha like a vajra. Explanation: Why is it steadfast? Because it is the essence of all phenomena of samsara and nirvana. Why is it the essence? Because it is unconditioned and spontaneously accomplished, hence firm. Why is it firm? Because it cannot be divided by any opposing factors such as conceptualization and characteristics. Thus, because it destroys all that should be abandoned and cannot be resisted by anything, it is indivisible, therefore the ten powers are like a vajra. There are two ways to represent it with a fearless lion: a brief presentation and an explanation. Presentation: Because there is no fear for anyone, because it does not depend on others, because intelligence is stable, and because the qualities and abilities are perfect, the Sage, the lion of men, like a lion, has no fear in the assembly of attendants. Detailed explanation: Because all knowable things are directly known, all questions can be answered, so there is no fear from any beings such as opponents, and one abides in that state. Furthermore, because even the tenth-ground bodhisattvas, whose obscurations are mostly purified, are seen as unequal to oneself, one does not depend on anyone else. The mind, with respect to all phenomena of suchness and all phenomena of variety, does not conceptualize and abides in one-pointedness, therefore the samadhi is stable.

Furthermore, in order to completely transcend the obscuration of the ground of ignorance, which is extremely difficult to eliminate, one possesses the qualities of being unimpeded, with complete skill in destroying unfavorable factors. By illustrating with unmixed space: individual beings of each world are attached to self, and the Hearers realize selflessness, and the Solitary Realizers who practice only peace realize half of selflessness, and the wise Bodhisattvas realize the two selflessnesses, and the self-born Buddhas directly know all knowable things; these are increasingly pure in wisdom, and because they are extremely subtle and profound, the examples are like the five elements of earth, water, etc., the former being coarser and the latter being finer and more profound. Or, the qualities of the Buddha, because they are the supreme basis for the sustenance of all worlds, are like the earth supporting, the water gathering, the fire ripening, and the wind preventing decay, and are similar to providing sustenance for the world. Or, the Buddha is beyond the characteristics of ordinary worldly beings and Hearers, etc., who have transcended the world, and is therefore uncommon, just like the sky that is beyond the earth, etc. In short, it is the principle of non-differentiation. Thus, the thirty qualities, these two roots, are completely distinguished by the self-benefiting, ultimate Dharmakaya, and remain undifferentiated within it, just as the colors, lights, and shapes of precious jewels are undifferentiated, so too are these undifferentiated within the realm of the one Dharmakaya. The two qualities of the ripening result, the Rupakaya, and how the marks reside in the two bodies. Merely seeing the body adorned with excellent marks satisfies the mind and is called the Vipaka quality of a great being, which is these thirty-two marks, perfected in the Nirmanakaya and the enjoyment of the Mahayana Dharma, which is the Sambhogakaya, relying on the two Rupakayas. How the Rupakaya is illustrated by the example of the moon. Far from the obstacles and obscurations that prevent seeing the Rupakaya are the ordinary beings and Hearers, etc., and close to the great Bodhisattvas of the ten Bhumis, in the world and the mandala of the Victorious Ones, like the reflection of the moon in clear water.
