Even so, those beings who lack the wisdom of a protector, due to the control of afflictions, their minds are not pacified, and therefore they abide in the source of suffering, which is samsara. The metaphor and meaning of a golden statue in clay are combined. For example, the golden statue in clay, its size and characteristics are fully manifested, its self-nature is pure and stainless. When one sees that the outer clay has the nature of clay, those who understand this, in order to extract the gold from the dirt inside, will clear away the outer obstacles. The meaning is that the self-luminous Tathagatagarbha, the defilements that obscure it are also seen as sudden, therefore, those beings who are like the source of precious gold, the clay, are purified from the sudden obscurations, and ultimately attain the supreme enlightenment. Combination: Just as the image of a horse, etc., made of immaculate pure gold, shining brightly, is buried in the earth, its immaculate, peaceful nature is recognized by a skilled craftsman, and the outer earth is cleared away, similarly, the wisdom of the omniscient Buddha, like pure gold, knows the mind of pacified afflictions, and by teaching the method of clearing away obstacles, just like gently tapping with a tool to clear away the outer clay, thus clears away the obscurations of the realm (Tibetan: ཁམས་, referring to elements or boundaries). In short, it is the principle of beginninglessness. The unpleasant color of the lotus, and the living insect bee, the cluster of fruits, and the impure earth, the tattered rags, the womb of a woman and the cavity of the earth, yet like the essence of Buddha's honey, like gold, like a treasure, like a tree, like a jewel body and the transformation of the wheel (Dharmachakra) and like a golden statue. The meaning approximated by these metaphors is: The afflictive shells of the beings' realm (Tibetan: ཁམས་) or continuum are unrelated to the nature of mind, are sudden, but exist together with the Dharmadhatu from beginningless time. Even so, the self-nature of mind, the immaculate realm (Tibetan: ཁམས་), the Tathagatagarbha, from beginningless time has not been defiled by its faults, but abides in the self-nature great purity. The two, defilement and essence, the two that match their respective dharmas, the difference of defilement.
