In the state of being utterly pure, it is sequentially referred to and indicated by the three names: sentient beings, Bodhisattvas, and Tathāgatas. The three words encompass six meanings. The meaning of essence and other terms indicate the meaning of cause and effect being interconnected. The realm encompassed by these six meanings is indicated by the three names just mentioned in those three states, but there is not the slightest difference in essence. The meaning of being all-pervasive like the sky has two aspects: the way of being non-discriminatingly pervasive over all. For example, the nature of being non-discriminating and unobstructed, the sky pervades and follows all forms without distinction, similarly, the nature of mind, the stainless realm, is also all-pervasive in all states of beings like the sky. And the state of having no common characteristics or differences. The pure realm is the common characteristic of all dharmas, that is, the nature of dharma is all-pervasive, therefore it pervades all states of ordinary beings with faults, Bodhisattvas with qualities, and Buddhas with ultimate qualities, just as the sky follows and pervades inferior earthenware, intermediate copperware, and superior goldware. The meaning of being eternally unchanging has two aspects: the indication of the unchanging state. Even in the state of having impurities before, because the faults are temporary and have the nature of being separable, they are not the nature; and because the qualities are the nature, having the inseparable nature, they are not temporary. Therefore, just as it was when previously in samsara, so too later in nirvana, it is always considered to be the unchanging nature of dharma. This is a detailed explanation of that principle. The detailed explanation of that principle has three aspects: the unchanging nature of the impure state. The unchanging nature of the impure and pure states. The unchanging nature of the utterly pure state. The first is further divided into two: the way of being unchanging like the sky. And the explanation of those differences. The first is further divided into indication, explanation, and summary. Brief indication, for example, the sky follows all forms, but because it is subtle, that is, non-material and profound, it is not tainted by the faults of impermanence of matter, similarly, the mind

This realm, which abides in all places, is not tainted by the faults of sentient beings. There are five points in the extensive explanation. The way the nature of reality appears in terms of arising and ceasing. Just as this container world, in all its forms, first arises in the open sky and ultimately dissolves into the nature of the sky, yet the sky has no arising or ceasing, so too, in the unconditioned realm of reality, the essence of the Sugata, the inner faculties of sentient beings first arise and ultimately dissolve, yet the nature of reality has neither of these two. The way the nature of reality does not perish. Just as the three—the sky, the edge of time, and the fire of the nature of hell—have never been burned in the past, so too, this realm is truly not burned by the fire of death, sickness, and old age. There are three points in the extensive explanation of the abiding reality: example, meaning, and the combination of these. In order, the example: just as the container of the world, the mandala of the earth, forms and abides in dependence on water, and water depends on wind, and wind abides thoroughly in space, yet space does not depend on causes and conditions, therefore it does not need to abide thoroughly in dependence on wind and water, etc., and the realm of earth. Meaning: similarly, the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and all the contaminated afflictions that arise, these abide in their cause, karma and afflictions, and karma and afflictions constantly abide in dependence on conceptual thoughts of improper attention, such as grasping at permanence in impermanence, and if that is not present, they do not arise. Improper attention abides thoroughly in the realm of the clear light of the pure nature of mind, and like the appearance of a dream, it is merely a conceptual thought that is confused despite being nonexistent, therefore, if one examines the nature, there is only the clear light nature of reality of solitary purity, and other than that, there is no basis to which to trace this arising, therefore, if there is purity, one should not understand it as being like the cause and effect of having improper attention. The phenomena that belong to the clear light nature of mind also do not abide in all of the karma, afflictions, etc., that arise from improper attention. The combination of example and meaning: that which is similar to earth should be known as the five aggregates of appropriation, the twelve sense bases, and the eighteen elements. That which is similar to the water element that accomplishes the mandala of the earth is the contaminated karma and afflictions of embodied beings.
