From then on, it comes from the cessation to the first dhyana. Second, in order to practice the main samadhi, in the small transcendence, one enters the nine successive abidings according to the rules, because these nine can make the mind abide completely. In the middle transcendence, from the first dhyana to the eight abidings, one alternately enters the cessation, and then together with the summit of existence with a little shaking, there are seventeen in total. In the great transcendence, one rises from the cessation or the slight shaking of the summit of existence, that is, holding the consciousness belonging to the desire realm as the intermittent nature that is not the self-nature of the samadhi of meditative form, thereby alternately entering the nine successive abidings and the desire realm mind. In transcendence, when entering samadhi, starting from the desire realm mind, then the cessation, then the desire realm mind, then abandoning one cessation, transcending the summit of existence and the desire realm mind, then transcending two cessations and the summit of existence, entering the realm of nothingness, then the desire realm mind, similarly, successively transcending three, entering the realm of infinite consciousness and the desire realm mind, transcending four, entering the realm of infinite space and the desire realm mind, transcending five, entering the fourth dhyana and the desire realm mind, transcending six, entering the third dhyana and the desire realm mind, transcending seven, entering the second dhyana and the desire realm mind, transcending eight, entering the first dhyana, and then the desire realm mind. In short, although it is only said to return downwards in this way, in reality there is both returning downwards and going upwards. The first dhyana and the desire realm mind, then abandoning the first dhyana, entering the second dhyana and the desire realm mind, etc., alternately in succession between the cessation and the desire realm mind. Like this, proceeding differently until the cessation is the samadhi of transcendence. As said before, abandoning one and two, etc., between the fourth dhyana and the four formless dhyanas and the samadhi of cessation, through alternately generating different kinds of co-born and subsequent, the samadhi of proceeding. Transcendence, etc., is the abandonment of making the samadhi familiar, which is the cessation of conceptual thought. Second, there are two kinds of conceptual thought to be abandoned: apprehended conceptual thought and apprehending conceptual thought. The first has two kinds of entering and returning, the first is, in general, the conceptual thought to be abandoned has two kinds of grasping of entering and returning, and two kinds of real and imputed

The former four are divided into nine categories, and these thirty-six types of innate aspects are to be abandoned. Among them, what is entered is the scriptural and realized understanding of the Mahayana, what is rejected is the path of the Hinayana, and what is nominally established is for both, and also the way of clinging to the Dharma of both Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, thus explaining the nine types. Therefore, what is entered is the object of entry through practice, and what is rejected, although not taken or abandoned through practice, is only the object of entry for mind and mental factors. In this regard, the sutra says: to understand the sutras and extensive explanations, etc. In this regard, from the perspective of what is to be known and the path, there are two knowables, one practice, three qualities of the path, and three essences of the path. From these perspectives, the nine are in order: the first two are real, then four are reversed, and the last three are shown from the real aspect. The teacher, in order to make the Mahayana lineage beings who should be tamed happy with concise words and meanings, uses concise scriptures to take them in; in order to make those who like extensive explanations happy, he shows the vast Dharma to take them in, these are the two knowables. In terms of practice, for those who are not diligent in the Dharma, the Buddha expresses "reproach" to indicate that they are not completely taken in, as the meaning of what is said, the Buddha does not like those who do not strive to practice, this is because the antidote is the Prajnaparamita, and innate clinging to reality arises for the Dharma that is entered. Here, "reproach" means protection. The qualities of the path, relative to the present moment of the seeing path, the path of preparation is past or has ceased, the seeing path is not abiding or has no abiding in the present, the path of cultivation has not arisen or has no arising, therefore, the qualities of the path of the three times do not exist in the ultimate truth, but exist in the conventional truth, and innate conceptual thoughts arise from clinging to the Dharma that is entered, these four are shown in the way of reversing the object of entry. The essence of the path, using the Nirvana of the Mahayana as a practice is the path of preparation, newly seeing emptiness or suchness is the seeing path, familiarizing with what has been seen is the path of cultivation, therefore, the excellent path is clinging to these three types of Dharma that is entered, the innate conceptual thoughts of clinging to the Mahayana path, these nine types of apprehended conceptual thoughts are the same, that is, the aspect of the initial path of cultivation, the approaching practice, is the object of practice to be abandoned. Generally speaking, the stated abandonment of the path of preparation and the actual path refers to the difference between what is manifest and difficult to overcome and what is easy to overcome.
