Now, just as entrusting the Prajñāpāramitā to Ānanda and showing many merits as examples. Bodhi is the ultimate bodhi, and the path is the knowledge of cessation and non-arising that will be explained, so in order to have others realize it, one should guide them to practice and have them meditate. The cause of realization is to completely entrust the Prajñāpāramitā to others, that is, to give; the cause of obtaining the path of seeing without obstruction is to abide in the nature of reality. In short, in the post-meditation state, causing the realization and scriptural teachings to arise in the minds of others, and in the meditative state, practicing one's own Prajñāpāramitā, these three are the causes of obtaining the path of seeing. Moreover, each of them has the characteristic of immeasurable merit, that is, being praised by the noble ones and being indestructible by the demons, and so on. Here, in the famous commentary, it says, "Show bodhi to others." This means showing complete bodhi to others, and its cause is giving the Prajñāpāramitā. These two seem to distinguish the emphasis of cause and effect, that is, taking the ultimate result, bodhi, as the goal, guiding others to fully accept it, and saying that this is the path, that is, showing the Prajñāpāramitā. I think that the path at this time refers to being prophesied to bodhi. The second part is divided into two points: showing the great bodhi that abides in meaning, and refuting the great bodhi that is fabricated by conceptual thought. The first point is: the nature of the dharmadhātu, from the very beginning, has exhausted the defilements of the two obscurations, and has the characteristic of not arising again, so the wisdom that knows it to be ultimate is called great bodhi. If one observes, the defilements have not been exhausted from the very beginning, nor have they arisen, so one should know them in order as the wisdom of knowing exhaustion and non-arising. On this, the sutra also says, "Thinking that the mother of Prajñāpāramitā is exhausted is like thinking that the sky can be exhausted," and so on, and "If these dharmas do not arise, how can they be exhausted?" and so on, in order to make people believe, just like teaching with truthful words. The second part is divided into two points: refuting the school that says there are real things, and establishing the school that says there is emptiness. The first part is divided into two points: not observing pervasiveness, and refuting with self-contradictory promises. The first point is: if one looks at the nature of reality, which is pure from the very beginning, from the perspective of reality, then anything that should be refuted does not need to be refuted, or abides in the nature of being unobstructed, this is called the path of seeing.

Through the path of abandonment, what kind of previously existing conceptualizations to be abandoned are exhausted? What kind of previously non-existent state of non-arising is attained? In reality, there is no attainment. The reason for this is that if the reality or nature of all phenomena is immaculate, then it can be seen with non-inverted wisdom; if it is tainted, then it cannot be seen as immaculate, because the nature of the object is such. If the nature of the object is tainted, but wisdom sees it as immaculate, then the wisdom that sees it as immaculate becomes a distorted view that clings to the reality of the object in a reversed manner. Therefore, it cannot purify the individual who possesses self-continuity, while the wisdom that sees it as tainted is the correct wisdom. Therefore, other proponents of inherent existence believe that the previously existing defilements are exhausted and do not arise later, calling it exhaustion and non-arising. However, if the defilements previously truly existed, then they must be of an unobstructed nature, and therefore this contradicts their scriptural and logical proofs. Secondly, other proponents of inherent existence believe that all phenomena, internal and external, or those to be abandoned and those to be cultivated, exist in ultimate reality. Regarding all objects of knowledge, it is also said that the Teacher, the Buddha, has exhausted the obscurations, that is, they believe that the obscuration of knowledge has been eliminated. To this, the venerable Maitreya considers it strange, that is, he sees their assertion as self-contradictory, because if the object to be abandoned exists by its own nature, it cannot be abandoned. Therefore, believing that phenomena exist and that the Teacher has exhausted the obscuration of knowledge is contradictory. In reality, if all phenomena are established in ultimate reality, then how can the obscuration of knowledge be exhausted in a way that does not fixate on the three spheres? Secondly, establishing the view of the proponents of emptiness: Regarding the nature or essence of things, there is nothing to be removed from the previously existing two obscurations, nor is there anything to be newly established from the previously non-existent qualities such as emptiness, because the nature of things is unmade and cannot be transformed by removal and establishment. Therefore, regarding the true reality or dharmata, the great equality, which is free from exaggeration and denigration, the meaning in which removal and establishment do not exist, in accordance with this, by observing truthfully with wisdom free from the defilement of affirmation and negation and abiding in equality, through the power of habituation, one can truly abide in the reality that does not fall into any extreme.
