In short, the implied or symbolic example is the twenty Sanghas of the Hinayana, and the true meaning of the symbol is the directly revealed twenty Sanghas of the Mahayana. The reason why the Mahayana Sangha is named after the twenty Sanghas of the Hinayana is that it is named with similarity as the reason for accepting the Shravakas. These twenty Sanghas, if according to the direct revelation of the scripture's words, according to the masters, adding three is a total of fifteen, and dividing them is seventeen, while according to the noble ones, it is considered sixteen, and the remaining supplementary part is implied. Here, there are generally five types: Stream-enterer, Once-returner, Non-returner, Arhat, and Solitary Realizer. From the fifteen moments of the Path of Seeing, abiding and striving to accomplish the abandonment and realization of the Stream-enterer, the dull-witted one, 1 the sharp-witted ones in order are, 2 the Faith-Liberated one who follows faith and the Dharma-Liberated one who follows Dharma or the one attained by seeing, that is, there are two types of Stream-enterers. After that, even if one has not abandoned even one of the Abandonments of Cultivation of the Desire Realm, or even if one has abandoned up to the five afflictions of the Desire Realm, it is acceptable. Relying on the sixteen moments of the Path of Seeing, the Stream-enterer's fruit position is merely a small portion, 3 similarly, in the Desire Realm, the two rebirths from the lineage of gods and humans to lineage are those with special fruit positions 4, 5, that is, there are five types of Stream-enterers. After the completion of the Stream-enterer, through the Path of Cultivation, abandoning the fifth affliction of the Desire Realm, the dull-witted Faith-Liberated one and the sharp-witted one attained by seeing are the same, striving to obtain the fruit of abandoning the sixth affliction, that is, one Once-returner Stream-enterer. 6, Abandoning the sixth affliction of the Desire Realm, and obtaining the antidote liberation path, or abiding in the Desire Realm and accepting two rebirths, but not accepting the same lineage. The fruit position of the Once-returner is merely a small portion. 7, The Once-returner abandons seven or eight of the Abandonments of Cultivation of the Desire Realm, and obtains the uncontaminated antidote, leaving one rebirth in the Desire Realm heaven, that is, one interruption in one lifetime, which is a special fruit position 8, there are three types of Once-returners. The dull-witted or sharp-witted, or Faith-Liberated one attained by seeing, striving to abandon the ninth affliction of the Desire Realm, is the Non-returner Stream-enterer. 9, The fruit position of the Non-returner is abandoning the ninth affliction of the Desire Realm, and obtaining its antidote, abandoning all the fetters of the Form Realm, and because the fetters that form the intermediate state have not been abandoned, therefore the intermediate state of the Form Realm is formed, and then the path manifests.

Having done so, the intermediate state is liberated from sorrow; 10. Not abandoning both aggregates, being born in the form realm and ending suffering is the born-and-dying; 11. Being born in the form realm and manifesting the path with diligent effort, thereby ending suffering, is the with-effort; 12. Being born in the form realm and manifesting the path without effort, thereby being liberated from suffering, is the without-effort; 13. The non-returner who Goes from the Brahma realm to Akanistha (the highest form realm) is the leaper; from the Brahma realm to some lower Pure Abodes, and then to Akanistha is the half-leaper; passing through all the places of the form realm, and going to Akanistha by death and transference, that is, the sum of the three kinds of upward leapers; 14. The non-returner who goes to the end of the peak of existence is: the non-returner with a desire realm basis, going to the intermediate of Great Fruit, abandoning the Pure Abodes, and gradually attaining the formless realm, manifesting Nirvana on the basis of the peak of existence, another name is Form 15 Attainer; the formless Attainer, on that very basis of the desire realm, having abandoned the form's cultivation abandonment, destroying the desire for form, and attaining Arhatship on the basis of the formless realm; 16. The basis of seeing truth, on that very Dharma of Seeing, attaining the non-returner fruit; the peaceful Arhat manifestor is like the supreme union; 17. The non-returner other than the Form and Formless Attainers, physically manifesting the cessation attainment, that is, 18 There are ten kinds of non-returners. Having abandoned the eighth cultivation abandonment of the peak of existence, striving to abandon the ninth is the one entering the Arhat path; liberation from both the obscurations of afflictions and the obscurations of meditative absorption; liberation solely from the obscurations of afflictions is liberation from the aspect of wisdom, that is, the distinction between adorned and unadorned; or from the aspect of faculties, with faith-understanding, attainment of seeing, and accompaniment, the fruit of Arhatship and the entry into the path are considered as one; 19. If a Buddha does not appear, then one transforms into a solitary realizer, like a rhinoceros horn existing alone; 20. And there are twenty Sanghas. From the way of attaining the fruit, it is the surpassing one; from the way of abandoning what is to be abandoned, it is called the pioneer of detachment. Before the path of seeing, abandoning the cultivation abandonment in stages with the worldly path, that is, the once-returner and the non-returner. The simultaneous one is the abandoning.
