For situations that are in accordance and not in accordance, it can be applied to transcendence that goes beyond one level at a time, entering the third level in different ways, and so on, it should be understood. Because it is very far, the fourth is not included. Transcendence is relied upon by the intelligent, only the three continents, and only the unwavering person. Mahayana practitioners are like the Ornament of Clear Realization. Fifth, regarding the support. There are two types: common and special. First, the meditative absorptions of the formless realms are those that have their own level and the body of the lower level as support. For example, the absorption of the peak of existence has the peak of existence as its own level, and the desire realm as the support, from the ninth ground to the first absorption has its own level and the desire realm as the support, that is, between the second ground. Why is it that the lower absorption is not manifested on the support born above? Because one exists in one's own level, there is no need for the inferior lower level.

Furthermore, since meditations are universal observations, even the actual also aims at the lower level's contaminated. However, the sphere of activity of the formless realm's actual virtue, purity, and uncontaminated are not encompassed by the contaminated lower level, because the formless realm's actual arises necessarily from the object. The saying 'aims at the higher level' also refers to the manifestation of the mind of the noble one of the peak of existence who has nothing, not in all cases. It implicitly shows that the lower level's uncontaminated path aims at the higher level's subsequent wisdom as a similar object. The paths of the nine grounds are mutual. So it is said. Seventh, regarding the distinction between what is to be abandoned, what can be abandoned, and what is not abandoned, there are two aspects: the main text and the implied meaning. First, from these three—meditation, form realm, and pure ones—the uncontaminated actualities abandon the afflictions of themselves and the higher realms, that is, they abandon them. The actualities of others cannot abandon them; even the actualities of the pure ones do not abandon the afflictions of the lower, their own, and the higher realms, let alone those with afflictions. Not only do the uncontaminated abandon them, but even the proximate concentration of the pure ones abandons the afflictions of the lower realms. Second, regarding the implied meaning, there are two aspects: the number of proximate concentrations and their nature. First, for those eight actualities, there are eight kinds of application by which one enters, that is, proximate concentrations. Second, there are two aspects: the general and the nature of the first proximate concentration. First, since there is no path of separation for those with afflictions, the path associated with desire cannot abandon afflictions, so the nature of those proximate concentrations is not enjoyment or association, but only purity, arising without manifest activity. And if one is separated from attachment to the lower realm, it is associated with joy and happiness, but this is not separation from attachment. Moreover, since these are activities that are diligently directed, they are only associated with equanimity, which is neither pleasant nor painful. Or, since it is to be diligently directed, it is associated with equanimity, and since it is not separated from aversion to the lower realm, and it is a path of separation from attachment, it is pure, not enjoyment. So it is said. The teacher Ārya said that all proximate concentrations are accomplished by seven things, such as intellectual attention to individual characteristics. Second, the first of the eight proximate concentrations is invincible and not only pure
