Considering pride and arrogance as supreme, and holding onto the cause of purity and liberation, is following wrong views in wrong views; due to disputes with anger and those who disagree with one's own views, it is following wrong views, these are explained in three ways. Second, focusing on the uncontaminated: there are six objects of focus, and examining which ground the uncontaminated object of focus belongs to, and showing how one cannot focus with anything other than these six, these are three points. First, what is to be abandoned by seeing cessation and the path are two wrong views, and two doubts, these four and their corresponding ignorance, and pure, unmixed ignorance. These six are those whose domain is focusing on the uncontaminated, while the other eighty are those whose domain is contaminated dharmas. If these six focus on the uncontaminated cessation and path, then it would lead to the fault of seeing the truth, answer: not necessarily, because they are focused on in a reversed manner. Second, wrong views etc. that focus on cessation, only focus on the antidote of their own ground - cessation, for example, the wrong view of the desire realm focuses on the antidote of the desire realm - cessation, and so on up to the peak of existence. The path is the path of the nine grounds, the paths are said to be mutually equal and different, therefore the paths themselves are the cause of mutually equal shares. Therefore, the preliminary practices of the first uncontaminated concentration etc., the path dharma wisdom that relies on the six concentration grounds is the object of the three, wrong view etc. of the desire realm. And it and the first three of the formless realm, together the subsequent wisdom of the path of the nine grounds, is the domain of that subsequent wisdom, that is, from the first concentration to the peak of existence, it is the object of the three, ignorance, wrong view, and doubt of the upper realm. Third, desire is not focused on cessation and the path, because if it were its object, then it would pervade what is to be abandoned, because the object of desire is what is to be abandoned, and cessation and the path are not. Focusing on the uncontaminated is not necessarily what is to be abandoned, just like aspiration. Wishing to obtain and accomplish cessation and the path is aspiration for virtuous dharmas, not desire. If there is hatred towards the harmer, then cessation and the path do not cause harm, because they transcend the nature of all nine bases of tormenting mind, so hatred is not focused on. If pride and arrogance focus, then because cessation and the path have the aspect of peace, and the path truth is the cause of purity for abandoning the defilements of afflictions, while hypocritical behavior is not the cause of purity, and looking at it in this way.

The path of cessation is also the most excellent of all correct dharmas. Because of holding to superior views, considering the inferior as superior, therefore, sequentially arising pride is not its object. False conduct and holding to superior views are also not its object. Therefore, among the eighty-eight kinds of latent afflictions, those that focus solely on the uncontaminated are twelve, those that focus solely on the contaminated are eighty, and those that focus on both are the six kinds of ignorance that are abandoned by the path of cessation and seeing. As this is directly shown, it implies that those who focus on the uncontaminated are directly entering the wrong path. Those who focus on the contaminated that are abandoned by the path of cessation and seeing, because they focus on wrong entry, wrong views, etc., are therefore wrong entry within wrong entry. The Upper School believes that those six also focus only on the name of the contaminated that is thought of by conceptual mind, but not in reality. If it were real, it would become wisdom. In the "Summary of Determinations," it is said that if the objects of focus are summarized, there are five: focusing on things that are wrongly conceptualized, focusing on views, focusing on discipline and asceticism, focusing on names that are conceptualized by oneself, and focusing on things that are inherently existent. The Vaibhashikas say that even if one focuses on the uncontaminated, it is not certain that one will become a noble being, just like holding sound to be permanent. Second, there are two types of growth: growth through focus and simultaneous growth. First, among the eighty-eight latent afflictions, does growth occur through focus or through simultaneous growth? Those that are pervasive always grow by focusing on the five objects to be abandoned in their own realm, that is, by focusing on all contaminated things. Those that are not pervasive only grow by focusing on their own category, and do not grow by focusing on other categories. For example, that which is abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering only grows by focusing on that which is abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering, and so on. So, does everything grow by focusing on its own object? Although those that focus on the uncontaminated and the afflictions that have the realm of higher grounds also focus on their own objects, they do not grow. This is because these two are not possessed by the lower self-view and craving, and they are the antidote to them, so even if they focus on them, they do not continuously increase and grow. Therefore, latent afflictions are of two types: pervasive and non-pervasive. The first type is further divided into two types: those that have the same realm and ground, and those that do not. Non-pervasive ones focus on the
