Because of severance, and through the means of attaining fruition, in order to be gathered into the complete wisdom of abandoning the final likeness, it is impossible to speak of it as being different from that. Some assert that when a gradual noble one severs attachment from desire, the first six are abandoned, because the seventh is attained. Likewise, there is attainment of one, two, and six, but there is no attainment of five. Among these, one is when knowing the Dharma of the origin of suffering. Similarly, with detachment from desire as a precursor, when knowing the subsequent path, only the seventh is attained. Also, in the ninth path of liberation from detachment from desire by the gradual one, only the seventh is attained, and when attaining Arhatship, only the last is attained. Two is like attaining the seventh and eighth when detachment from desire from the formless realm is damaged by the afflictions of the formless realm. Six is when a gradual one falls from the state of non-returner, the first six are attained. Then, if detachment from desire precedes, why are the first five not attained when falling from the final likeness? Because it is impossible to fall from that, because it is stabilized by the two paths. Therefore, there is no attainment of five. It is attained simultaneously, and what has already been attained is not newly attained. The second is the name of the place. From the "Collected Topics of the Abhidharma Treasury," called "Subtle Exposition," which is the commentary on the fifth place. Subtle Exposition.
