Third, does this manifest in the noble ones? Answer: In the noble ones, there will be no manifestation of the nine forms of pride, such as killing, etc., and attachment to birth and death, and pride in thinking "I am." Why? Because these objects to be abandoned by meditation increase through views. Killing, etc., all entangled ones, increase through wrong views. Regret, which has become the nature of non-virtue, is also evil deeds, because it is abandoned by meditation by focusing on the body and speech to be abandoned by meditation, but this is caused by doubt, so it does not occur in the noble ones. Third, in the detailed division, there are three types: difference, order, and cause. First, the difference of object. The difference of increase. The difference of nature. The difference of how it is associated with the object. The difference of combining the object and the object-holder, there are five types. In the first type, the difference of whether the five objects to be abandoned are pervasive or not. The difference of whether the object is focused on the unpolluted or not, there are two types. The first type, pervasive in its own ground, and pervasive in the upper ground, there are two types. The five views to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering, and the two views to be abandoned by seeing the truth of origin, that is, seven views. Similarly, the two doubts to be abandoned by seeing the two truths, and whichever is view or doubt, the ignorance that is co-emergent with it, and the two types of ignorance that are not mixed with other root afflictions, that is, the two to be abandoned by seeing suffering and origin. Thus, these eleven subtle increasers are pervasive, because they focus on all five categories of objects to be abandoned of the same share such as desire, and are the cause of generating them, so they are pervasive. The ignorance that is co-emergent with attachment, etc., is not pervasive. Therefore, the views, etc., of the first two focus on all polluted objects, so they are accumulated and stable and have power. The objects to be abandoned by seeing on cessation and path are not like that, and the four objects to be abandoned by meditation cannot focus on all polluted objects. Then, does it focus on them in sequence or simultaneously? If it is the former, attachment, etc., will also become pervasive. If it is the latter, it is impossible to grasp all desire realm as self, etc., so holding to discipline and vows will also not become pervasive. Answer: It is impossible to focus on all things, but it is possible to generate self-grasping, etc., by focusing on the five categories of objects to be abandoned. Thus, self-attachment and the desire and pride of viewing it as the cause of excellence and liberation will also become pervasive, because...

If someone says that views are based on all realms with the same karmic results, and that these two afflictions also enter the object of views. The Sautrāntika school says that although this is the case, attachment and pride are based on one aspect, so they are not common. The accompanying is based on the five destinies, so they are based together. Therefore, attachment and pride are based on what is abandoned by the path of seeing, which is what is abandoned by the path of seeing; what is based on what is abandoned by the path of cultivation is what is abandoned by the path of cultivation. The teacher said that what is abandoned by the path of seeing is the attachment and pride that arise from the power of views, and what is abandoned by the path of cultivation is what arises from the power of the afflictions that are abandoned by the path of cultivation. Or, the two that are based on what is abandoned by the path of seeing are what is abandoned by the path of seeing, and what is based on the karma that leads to both is what is abandoned by the path of cultivation. Second, among the eleven subtle attachments, nine also rely on those above who do not have the same karmic results, so they are all accompanying. Except for the two extreme views, namely, thinking of one's own aggregates as "I", and thinking of it as permanent or annihilated. Pretense also enters other continuums. Heretics think of Brahmā as a sentient being, and think of it as permanent, but this is not thinking of Brahmā as "I" and "mine", so it is not an extreme view, because there is no view of destruction, so it is a wrong view, and it is not included in the five views. These eleven subtle attachments and what arises simultaneously with them, such as mind, mental factors, and nature, are also accompanying, except for special attainments, because the results of maturation and the results of the same cause of subtle attachments and attainments are not the same. Therefore, there are four sentences for subtle attachment accompanying and cause accompanying: First, future subtle attachment accompanying. Second, past and present subtle attachment accompanying and co-arising. Third, past and present subtle attachment accompanying. Fourth, apart from these, future co-arising and attainment, etc. Therefore, among the ninety-eight subtle attachments, only twenty-seven are accompanying, and another fifty-one. The accompanying all contradict the nature of the first two truths, so they are direct wrong actions, and those that are not accompanying are considered wrong actions among wrong actions because they do not directly contradict the nature. The upper school thinks this way. The first three views and ignorance, doubt, a total of five, are directly aimed at the truth. Attachment and pride, and the last two views, a total of four, are attachment to the first three views.
