In Varanasi, when a poor man became a grass cutter, he offered alms to a Pratyekabuddha called "Upper Abode," or a Pratyekabuddha called "Crest Like a Takara Flower." After that single act matured, he became a god of the three realms seven times, and a Chakravartin king seven times, until he was born into the Shakya clan of herdsmen. If someone says this contradicts the facts, it does not. Because he obtained the wealth of good rebirths through that merit, remembered his past lives, and performed merit again. Just as it is said, "One debt is repaid many times, and when one becomes a herdsman, one debt becomes a herdsman." Or, it is said that the joy and rejoicing that follow the offering of alms are the result of many mental activities. When one initiator initiates, it completely perfects the special qualities of that same category, which is the action of many karmas. Just as a sketch is drawn with one line, and then completed with various colors. Although they are all humans, their physique, strength, wealth, and so on are different. Therefore, there are four possibilities of initiating and completing, good and non-good. The first is that the initiator is good, but the completion is non-good, such as poor people and so on. The second is Dharma King Yama. The third is the Lord of the Gods. The fourth is Avici Hell. The Sutra School and the higher vehicles believe that the sutras say that one karma can initiate multiple rebirths, and that one karma can also initiate another karma. These two mindless samadhis are not initiators, because they have no mind, and karma that is not associated with mind is weak, so long-lived gods, etc., their initiator is the fourth dhyana and the samadhi of the peak of existence. One's own samadhi is considered the completer, through which one can attain accomplishment. The attainment of good and non-good, although it exists simultaneously with karma, is not the initiator. Because karma and attainment are not the same result, and attainment has no mind, it is incidental, like the bark of a tree, karma and attainment are different. However, the contaminated attainment of good and non-good is the completer, which is the view of the Vaibhashikas. Similarly, the contaminated karma of the noble stream and the four preparatory paths are also only completers. Second, in terms of differences, what is to be abandoned.

Explanation of obscurations. Explanation of meritorious virtues to be adopted. Incidentally, there are three parts to the explanation of miscellaneous actions. In the first part, the three obscurations are generally explained. The obscuration of karma is explained separately, in two parts. The first part, according to the sutra: The obscuration of karma, the obscuration of afflictions, and the obscuration of maturation are explained as three. Mother, father, killing an Arhat, division of the Sangha, drawing blood from the body of the Tathagata with malicious intent, these are only those who go to hell in the next life. Karma and other beings cannot interrupt or cut them off, so these deeds of immediate retribution are the obscuration of karma, and the very strong afflictions are the obscuration of afflictions. Among these, there are two types of afflictions: strong and intense. The first is that which arises continuously. It goes from small to medium, and from medium to large, without ceasing. Because there is no opportunity to abandon it with an antidote, it is regarded as an obscuration. The second is that which arises intensely. Because it is easy to abandon, it is not included among the three obscurations. The three lower realms, sentient beings without perception, and those born in places where the sound is unpleasant are the obscuration of maturation, because previous actions have cast the continuum into a bad state. Thus, obscurations are considered to be three, because they obscure the noble path and the application of the noble path, such as warmth. If so, wouldn't it follow that those with great afflictions, such as Lamphrana, Angulimala, and Nanda, would not be able to generate the noble path? For them, as long as those obscurations have not been purified, the path will not arise. When the path arises, they will not have great afflictions. If it is because it obscures the noble path, then the actions that lead to becoming a Great Brahma, a state of non-perception, being born from eggs, moisture, or transformation, becoming a woman or a eunuch, the three lower realms, sentient beings without perception, and the eighth existence should also be obscurations. If it is said that this is the same reasoning as considering the deeds of immediate retribution as obscuring the noble path, then these should also become obscurations, but the reason for only pointing out the deeds of immediate retribution is that it is easy to show others from the perspective of the basis, result, etc., and it is easy to name oneself, so it can be clearly stated. The obscuration of afflictions, the obscuration of karma, and the obscuration of maturation are the three, the former being inferior to the former, and the latter leading.
