Thus it is explained. Like this, the mental phenomenon that is contrary to correct reasoning, and is ignorant of other things such as truth and karmic results, is called ignorance. For it, merely the absence of knowledge, merely not being knowledge, is also non-existent and material. Not being like that is like saying "unfriendly" is the absence of friendliness, and merely not being friendly is understood as an enemy. Similarly, "untrue" is understood only as false. And so on, using the word "non" to indicate that non-dharma is non-virtue, non-action is evil action, and non-meaning is like the meaning of wrong meaning. If it is not merely the absence of knowledge, how is it known? Because ignorance is the object of the cause of samsara such as attachment, bondage, subtle increase, and the flow of water, and it must be the meaning expressed by the words that are explained as the cause of action. Merely "non-existence" can never be the object of a cause. Second, some say, even if it is so, there is no separate mental phenomenon called ignorance. Because it is attaching a negative word to bad wisdom, just like saying to a bad son that there is no son, not a son. If you say that, it is not right. Because inverted bad wisdom is view, and view and ignorance are said to be different in fundamental afflictions and rivers, etc. If you say that wisdom that is not view is ignorance, that is also not right. Because view and ignorance are said to be corresponding, so both view and ignorance are wisdom, and it is impossible for two entities of wisdom to be corresponding. Moreover, the sutra says that wisdom that has been defiled by ignorance cannot be cleansed. If it is said that wisdom is the object defiled by ignorance, then it is contradictory for oneself to act on oneself. This refutes the statement that Dapa Rinpoche considers ignorance to be the general name for afflictions, and Chokyong considers sentient beings to be attached to "I", but calls the worldly view mentioned in the scriptures ignorance. Although it is said like this, the intention is profound and similar to the view of explaining the worldly view as ignorance. Second, name, as its name implies, is unobstructed, non-form skandha, and is the four skandhas of feeling, etc. Third, it is divided into two parts: the entity and the explanation of other names of the entity. First, the six contacts are the aggregation of object, sense, and consciousness, and are produced by completely cutting off the object. Among them, there are six types of contact, such as contact produced by the aggregation of the eye sense. Some say that it is only the aggregation of the three that is established as contact. Some say

It is a wisdom that completely cuts off the object, arising from the aggregate. In the Sutra of Six Groups, it is said to be different from the six internal and external sense bases and the six consciousnesses. Second, the way of contact, the first five, such as the eye, are contacts with resistance, because they rely on the roots with resistance, etc. The sixth, mental contact, is called the contact of name or word, because "name" is what the mind mainly focuses on. The eye can only know blue, but cannot know "it is blue," while the mind knows both. Some say that the five sense consciousnesses do not rely on words to grasp the meaning, while the mind consciousness is controlled by words and enters into the meaning, so the corresponding contact is also distinguished by the companion. But I think this may be because the eye, etc., directly face the object, while the mind only cuts off the object through a certain form of mind, so it is called "name" for non-form phenomena. If further classified, there are three types of contact: the contact of intelligence, the contact of non-intelligence, and the contact different from these two, namely, the contact of non-outflow or stainless contact, the contact of affliction, and the remaining virtuous, non-obscuring, unspecified, and corresponding contacts. Among the contacts of non-intelligence, there are also two types: the contact of harmful intention and the contact corresponding to subsequent attachment. Furthermore, from the perspective of the result, there are three types of contact: the contact that experiences the result of happiness, the contact that experiences the result of suffering, and the contact that experiences the result of equanimity. Fourth, it is divided into the entity and its other two synonyms. First, the feeling arising from the contact, such as the aggregation of the eye, that is, the six, such as feeling conditioned by contact. Second, feeling is divided into two types and eighteen types. First, the first five are the feelings of the body that rely on the material roots. The feeling of the mind is different from the eye, etc., and relies only on the mind. Furthermore, are contact and feeling simultaneous or not? If simultaneous, then cause and effect are simultaneous. If not simultaneous, then there is contact without feeling, then feeling will not be the majority of mental factors. If simultaneous, then it should not become the produced and the producer. To this, the Vaibhashikas say that they are co-emergent causes, so they are simultaneous, like the light of a lamp and the shadow of a sprout. The Sautrantikas believe that feeling is produced after contact, and they are mutual causes and effects.
