On both sides of the road, there are ponds filled with cool, honey-like water. The ponds are built with four kinds of precious stones, with steps, and are inhabited by flowers and birds that make beautiful sounds. Near the ponds, various kinds of trees grow, which can immediately generate bodhicitta and produce flowers, fruits, clothes, ornaments, musical instruments, nectar, and four kinds of colored honey and mead, etc. Birds growing on the plains make beautiful sounds. The ponds are filled with cool, honey-like water, built with four kinds of precious stones, and filled with flowers and water. The ponds are one yojana deep and wide, surrounded by seven layers of steps, with various boats for the gods to play in the water. Near the ponds, there are wish-fulfilling trees and various birds growing on the plains that make beautiful sounds. In addition, there are pavilions, buildings, cool rooms, viewing platforms, and bridges, which are decorated with celestial maidens. The gods enjoy their respective karmic results in these places. In the center of that city is Indra's palace, called "Vajrajayanta Palace". Each side of it is two hundred and fifty yojanas long, and it is surrounded by a thousand edges. It is five and a half yojanas higher than the heavenly palace and has forty pillars. Indra's palace has eight eaves, each with seven floors, each floor with seven residences, each residence with seven celestial maidens, each celestial maiden with seven servants, and each celestial maiden with seven musical instruments, which are said to be responsible for welcoming and seeing off Indra. To the east are various vehicles, to the south is rough change, to the west is a mixed garden, and to the north is a garden adorned with joy, surrounded by two hundred and fifty yojanas. Golden walls, each yojana in height, surround it. Its walls and so on are as previously described. In the first garden are various jewel vehicles, and entering the second garden, knowledge becomes rough. In the third garden, the sons and daughters of the gods mingle and engage in various behaviors. In the fourth garden, they love pleasure and frolic. In these gardens, there are successively various ponds, rough change, mixture, and joy, four in number, fifty yojanas in size, and two hundred yojanas in circumference. Outside these gardens, in the four directions, separated by twenty yojanas, to the east are various beautiful lands, to the south is rough change, to the west is mixture, and to the north is joy, these four gardens and sizes are like competing with each other. There are celestial Brahmachari sages there. Between the city, the gardens, and the land, there are roads, two and a half yojanas wide and twenty yojanas long, with various means of transportation such as horses, oxen, carts, and palanquins, by which the gods travel. To the northeast of the city is the Sarvatraga earth-piercing tree, which penetrates five yojanas downward from the ground, and according to the hypothesis, fifty yojanas downward. It rises one hundred yojanas upward, its branches cover fifty yojanas, the water surface is one hundred and fifty yojanas wide, and the circumference is four hundred and fifty yojanas. The fragrance of the tree spreads fifty yojanas in the non-branch direction, one hundred yojanas in the branch direction, and the light illuminates eighty yojanas. Next to the tree is a stone slab like a white cloth, fifty yojanas wide, a square with a circumference of two hundred yojanas, six and a half yojanas and one-eighteenth of a yojana high, decorated with one hundred and one flowers, and the lion throne of Indra and the lion thrones of close ministers and others are arranged. Indra and his retinue enjoy sensual pleasures there for four months in the summer. To the southwest of the city is the Sudharma Hall, where the gods gather to discuss what should and should not be done, three hundred yojanas wide, nine hundred yojanas in circumference, four and a half yojanas higher than the city of the gods, and entirely made of crystal above.
