That is also a shadow. So it is said. Secondly, there are two points regarding the general classification of celestial abodes and, incidentally, some differences in the levels of abodes. The first point includes: the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three Gods, and the explanation of other celestial abodes, in three parts. First: This Mount Sumeru has four tiers, and the distance between the top and bottom of each tier is ten thousand yojanas. The first tier from Mount Sumeru is sixteen thousand yojanas, the second eight thousand, the third four thousand, and the first two protrude outwards. Some say that Mount Sumeru swells upwards from the surface of the water by thirty thousand yojanas, and becomes thinner and thinner after exceeding ten thousand yojanas upwards. Sixteen thousand yojanas is the first contraction. It is said that after that, it contracts inwards by half each time. The lamas say that Mount Sumeru on the surface of the water gradually becomes a frame, and when it rises to ten thousand yojanas, the contraction is sixteen thousand yojanas, and so on. In any case, the outward protrusion is due to the nature of Mount Sumeru itself. Sudarsana believes that because of the gradual contraction of sixteen, etc., Mount Sumeru becomes thinner and thinner like a stupa. It is said that the statement of eighty thousand on its surface refers to the circumference. On that tier, there are those who hold jewel platters in their hands, those who hold flower garlands, and those who are constantly intoxicated with wine, and the gods of the Four Great Kings and their retinues reside. Just as the Four Great Kings reside on the tier, the gods of the Four Great Kings also reside on the seven mountains (seven golden mountains). Also, by the word "also," it is known that there are also mountains, trees, and water, etc. in the surrounding areas and continents. Therefore, the types of gods are more numerous than other desire realm gods. So it is said. The *Abhidharmakośa* says that on the four sides of the top of Mount Yugandhara, there are palaces of the Four Great Kings. The second tier of Mount Sumeru is said to be the abode of those who hold garlands in their hands. Secondly, there are two points regarding the explanation of some characteristics of cities and celestial abodes. First: On the summit of Mount Sumeru, there are the Thirty-three Gods, namely, the eight wealth gods, the eleven fierce gods, the twelve sun gods, and the two sons of the Pleiades star, namely Indra and Upendra, because that is the abode of the thirty-three gods. Or, because there are thirty-three places that can be proclaimed to Jambudvipa, such as excellent transformations and good descents. The *Smṛtyupasthāna Sūtra* says that there are thirty-three places such as Sudharma Hall, Sight Place, and Mountain Top. That is, water and moon.

Firm, holding wind and fire, and the one called the dawn light, these eight are called the gods of wealth. Unborn, one-footed, increasing and praised, fierce and endowed with diligence, the robber, and then the source of happiness, three-eyed, victorious over others, powerful and the three lands, know these eleven fierce ones. The powerful one, the maker, the path, the rain-bringer, the praiser, the non-ancient excellent, eye, form, pervader, radiant, and the water lord, the one called Yama, are known as the twelve suns. The lord of hosts and the son of the Pleiades are the two youths of the Krittika star. Each side of Mount Meru is eighty thousand yojanas, and the circumference is three hundred and twenty thousand yojanas. Sudarshana City is twenty thousand yojanas on each side, so the circumference is eighty thousand yojanas. It is said in the scriptures that it is based on the water boundary, but it should be examined whether it is above eighty thousand yojanas. In the four corners of Mount Meru, there are four-story houses where Vajrapani resides. That is, according to the setting, each side is one hundred and twenty-five yojanas, and the circumference is five hundred yojanas. In terms of height, it is said in the scriptures that this is five hundred yojanas from the ground. According to the setting, there are four walls extending upwards five and a half yojanas, where the Yaksha Vajrapani wearing blue clothes resides, and it is said that he protects the negligent gods. Karmapa says that manifesting as the form of the secret lord to act does not belong to this category. These are from the theory of setting: west, south, east, and north are respectively the nature of silver, lapis lazuli, crystal, and gold. In the center of the top of Mount Meru is a beautiful city called Sudarshana, each side is two thousand five hundred yojanas long, and the circumference is one hundred thousand yojanas. Its height is two and a half yojanas, the nature of gold, the shape is beautiful, and there are sixty thousand precious pillars. The golden fence is two and a half yojanas high. The fence has walls made of four materials: gold, silver, lapis lazuli, and crystal, and arrow paths extending upwards and downwards. There are four bridges made of four kinds of jewels. The inner ground is decorated with one hundred and one colors, and it is as soft as the bark of the Nimba tree. The rain of Mandara flowers constantly falls new flowers, and the old flowers are blown away by the wind.
