Therefore. Secondly, when dying in the formless realms, the life, mind, and equanimity contained in that realm will cease simultaneously. In the form realm, the five senses such as eyes, etc., plus the previous three, make eight. In the desire realm, when a hermaphrodite born by transformation dies at once, the seven corporeal elements and the three elements of life, etc., make ten that cease. If it is a single-sexed being, then nine cease. If it is a sexless being, then eight cease. For those who die gradually, the four of body, life, equanimity, and mind cease simultaneously. These are said to be under the control of the obscured and unindicated and afflictions, but when one transmigrates with a virtuous mind, in all six states of the three realms, adding the five of faith, etc., in the formless realm, eight cease simultaneously, and so on. The undefiled non-resultant and not the mind of death, nor are they the objects of abandonment of those deaths, so it is not said that they cease at the time of death. Eighth, the last of the upper and lower fruits, the two arhats who are in accordance with habit and not in accordance with habit, are attained by nine faculties each. The two arhats who are in accordance with habit are based on the five of faith, etc., and mind. For those in accordance with habit, because the noble one is attached, it is the feeling of equanimity that cannot be overcome. Below fifteen moments, all are knowers, and the sixteenth is the all-knower, that is, separated by the uninterrupted path, obtaining guidance, and separated by the path of liberation, obtaining holding. If an arhat relies on the actual basis of the first and second dhyanas, then it is mental happiness, the happiness of the third dhyana, any equanimity of another realm, the Vajra Samadhi all-knower of the uninterrupted path, and the all-knower of the path of liberation, making nine. For the two intermediate fruits, on top of the six of faith, etc., and mind. If a once-returner gradually attains the fruit by the worldly path, then it is the equanimity that cannot be overcome and seven. If it is attained by the transcendental path, then faith, etc., attain the name of all-knower, so with that it is eight. For those who attain the fruit of once-returner on the path of seeing with detachment preceding, on top of the eight, it is attained by the all-knower and nine. If a non-returner with dull faculties gradually attains by the worldly path, then on top of the previous six. The mental happiness of the actual basis, at the time of the ninth liberation, cannot be manifested, so it is the equanimity that cannot be overcome and seven. Again, if a dull faculty gradually attains by the transcendental path, then on top of that, with the all-knower and

If a sharp-witted person, even through the worldly path, can manifest joy when attaining the ninth liberation, they can also attain the eighth. If a sharp-witted person attains it through the transcendent path, they attain it through both equanimity and joy, and through the uninterrupted path, they attain omniscience and the ninth liberation. Furthermore, if one who has previously abandoned attachment attains their own result, they attain it through any of the three feelings, as well as the agent of omniscience, omniscience itself, and the ninth liberation. These eleven are explained because it is possible for an Arhat to attain Arhatship, then decline and recover. Because it is said that an Arhat attains it through eleven faculties when entering wisdom, is it not impossible? If one attains it by relying on equanimity from the fourth dhyana onwards, and then declines and recovers by relying on the actual bliss of the third dhyana, it is bliss. And if one declines again and recovers by relying on the first two dhyanas, it is joy. Adding up the previous nine, there are eleven. It is not possible to have more than that, because even if one declines many times, it is not possible to rely on anything other than the three feelings. If one declines once, it can still be done with ten. It is not the same as the decline of a non-returner, because a sharp-witted person does not decline, and even if a dull-witted person declines, it is not possible to attain bliss from non-joy. Because one who possesses joy is invariably non-declining, and one who declines invariably lacks it. This is in relation to the preparatory stage of the first abandonment of desire-realm afflictions. Even if a non-returner who has previously abandoned attachment declines from the fourth dhyana onwards, it is possible to have bliss and joy, so it is said to be eleven. If it is said that this situation will decline, it is impossible, because it has been stabilized by two paths. Regarding the ninth liberation, there are three ways of possessing: definite possession, possible possession, and many or few ways of possessing. The first is that equanimity, the life force, and the mind are connected, and it is certain that these three are invariably connected. If it is said that there are no other two during cessation, then is there no life force? Because the attainment of those two exists, it is possessed. Others are not necessarily possessed, because possessing that does not necessarily mean possessing the body and other feelings, like the formless realm. It is also not certain to possess eyes, etc., like the "soft ones." Like the male and female faculties and damaged eyes, etc., and during gradual death. Not possessing suffering and male and female faculties is like the form realm. Not possessing the uncontaminated is like an ordinary being. This also refers to those who have not attained it before, and those who have already abandoned it, etc. Not necessarily possessing faith, etc., is like one who has severed the root of virtue. If one wants to have displeasure, then one does not possess detachment.
