Except for these four. The Hinyogapa school holds that the mind has ten functions, and the characteristics of mental factors also take their own characteristics as functions, but because their power is weak, they say that they do not act on the mind. If the Kashmiris think so, in the Vibhajyavāda: "Those who have the cause of the view of the perishable aggregate, and the edge of the two causes. The first is the one who has the cause of the view of the perishable aggregate but is not the cause, except for the four characteristics of the view of the perishable aggregate and the dharmas that are in accordance with it, and the other afflictions of the suffering truth that are spoken of, and those who are both except for those." This is contradictory, if the characteristics of the mental factors are not the co-emergent cause of the mind, then the characteristics of the view of the perishable aggregate and the corresponding mind and mental factors are the cause of the view of the perishable aggregate, but not the cause, because the characteristics are not its equal part, pervasive, corresponding, nor are they the cause of co-emergence. Therefore, in the Vibhajyavāda, because it is said that both of them are the edge, and just as the characteristics of the view of the perishable aggregate and the corresponding mind and mental factors are the co-emergent of the view of the perishable aggregate, the reason is the same, so the characteristics of the mind and the corresponding are also the co-emergent cause. The Hinyogapa school does not say the Vibhajya in that way, but says that reciting the birth of the view of the perishable aggregate, etc., so there is no fault. Although the Kashmiris do not recite it, they obtain it through meaning, so it should be recited. In this regard, among the six causes, the inactive agent cause is not counted, because it is the nominalist. The active one is also included in the five causes, and because all knowable things are the agent cause, it is not counted separately. The ripening cause, the result, and the separation result are also not taken, because the view of the perishable aggregate is an unstated obscuration, so it is not suitable as the cause and effect of the ripening of the two. The view of the perishable aggregate is not separated, nor is it the cause of separation. The equal flow result is also not counted, because all conditioned dharmas are the equal flow result, or because they are included in the four results. Therefore, the co-emergent cause, the equal part cause, the corresponding cause, and the pervasive cause, and the dominant result and the agent result in the result, should calculate the edge of the cause and the caused. That is also in the Vibhajyavāda, although it is said from the four truths, but here the four truths, as well as space and non-real, etc., are also calculated.

Moreover, it is easier to understand if we first explain the four possibilities. Among the Four Noble Truths, those that are neither the cause nor the effect of the view of the perishable (འཇིག་ལྟ་,梵文:satkāyadṛṣṭi,梵文罗马拟音:satkāya-dṛṣṭi,literal meaning: view of the body) are the Truth of Cessation and the Truth of the Path, as well as unconditioned space, and those that are not afflictive obscurations to be abandoned by meditation of the Truth of Suffering. Because it is impossible for these and the view of the perishable to mutually be the four causes and two effects. The second possibility, being the cause of the view of the perishable but not the effect, is impossible, because those that are the four causes of the view of the perishable are definitely only afflictive. Because all afflictive ones arise from the coemergent cause of the view of the perishable. Being the effect of the view of the perishable but not the cause is, among the five categories of abandonment, of the ten subtle attachments to be abandoned by seeing the Truth of Suffering, the eight other than the view of the perishable itself and ignorance among the other nine, are future ones with their associates. Because these are afflictive, they arise from the coemergent cause of the view of the perishable in the past and present. But they are not the cause of the view of the perishable, because the future is not a similar cause or a coemergent cause, and because the root afflictions, except for ignorance, do not have similarities with each other. Similarly, the future coemergent ones to be abandoned by seeing the Truth of Origin, also, because the categories of abandonment are different and do not occur simultaneously, the reasons are the same. They are the effect of the view of the perishable but not the cause. Because these are future coemergents, they cannot be the coemergent cause, and because the categories are different, they are not similar causes. Because they do not have similarities, they do not occur simultaneously. Those of the three times that are not coemergent to be abandoned by seeing the Truth of Origin, with their associates, and the afflictive ones to be abandoned by seeing the Truth of Cessation and the Path, and by meditation, also arise from the coemergent cause of the view of the perishable, but these are not the coemergent cause, nor are they similar causes, and the categories are different and do not have similarities, nor do they occur simultaneously. Therefore, they are not the effect of these views of the perishable. Similarly, the attainments of all afflictive ones such as the view of the perishable, of the three times, and all the characteristics of the afflictive ones except for the characteristics of the view of the perishable and its associates, are also the effects of the similar and coemergent causes of the past and present views of the perishable, but not the cause. Being both the cause and the effect are four groups, the first being the ten subtle attachments to be abandoned by seeing the Truth of Suffering in the past.
