It does not arise from maturation, because these three are not things with form, and the two meditative stabilizations are virtuous, and the non-possessed are not cast by virtuous or non-virtuous actions, but arise incidentally. Second, regarding the classification of cause, effect, and condition, there are three classifications: the classification of cause, the classification of effect, and the classification of condition. The first has two parts: teaching and explanation. First, the acting cause, the co-emergent cause, the similar cause, the corresponding cause, the pervasive cause, and the ripening cause, there are six types of causes, which are accepted by the Abhidharma masters. Second, there are two parts: revealing the nature of the six causes and examining when they exist. First, there are six: the acting cause, the co-emergent cause, the similar cause, the corresponding cause, the pervasive cause, and the ripening cause. First, all conditioned things other than oneself are considered to be the cause of the acting cause. This is a general statement, and the five causes are also included in it. Among them, the acting cause has two types: with ability and without ability. The first is like the seed for the sprout, etc., which is the nature of the acting cause. The second is like the uncompounded for the sprout, and hell, etc., for the formless aggregates, which are designated as causes because they do not obstruct. It is like saying that the king did good by not collecting taxes. Some say that in some way, the uncompounded and hell, etc., can also be produced by the way the mind takes objects, and from this, virtue and non-virtue arise, and from this, the container world and the formless aggregates, etc., gradually arise. If darkness, etc., obstruct appearance, it will not become an acting cause. If that is the case, things other than oneself cannot become acting causes. If someone asks, because it obstructs the arising of those dharmas that do not arise, those are also acting causes. Others say that if light produces a small amount of darkness and is considered an obstruction, that is the acting cause, because the disappearance of darkness is not caused by it. Second, there are two parts: the nature and the example as an illustration. First, what is the co-emergent cause? It is something that mutually becomes the result. Second, there is a general and a detailed explanation of the subsequent mind. First, that is, the four elements of earth, etc., in the same group are mutually cause and effect, and the mind

and the mind is also like cause and effect to each other, and the characteristics and basis of conditioned phenomena are like cause and effect to each other. If the characteristic is the basis, then it is pervasive that they are cause and effect to each other, which is not the case, but it is mostly the case. The four conforming characteristics do not directly act on others except for the one root, just as the king's close servant cannot directly do things for the king. Secondly, there are two aspects to identifying the followers of the mind and how to follow them. First, what are the dharmas that follow the mind? They are the mental factors, the two vows of undefiled concentration, the mind, and the characteristics of those followers just mentioned. Second, why should one follow the mind? Generally, being simultaneous with the mind and having the same results, etc., is because of having the same virtues, etc. In general, it is only the same time, that is, when the mind is established, they are also established. In particular, the time of birth, the time of dwelling, and the time of destruction are the same, that is, the four times are the same; and the self-effect is not only here, but is common to all dharmas; and the agent effect and the separation effect are the same, only the result is the same; and so on, indicating that the similar cause and the maturation effect are also the same. If the mind is the maturation effect and the similar cause effect, then they are also, so the three effects are the same; if the mind is virtuous, etc., then the followers are also the same, the three are the same, so the followers of the mind are explained with ten reasons. The three virtues, etc., are not included in one mind, so it is correctly said to be eight. The eight also take the edge of the majority, that is, unobscured and unspecified, and the undefiled does not have the maturation effect, and for the unborn dharma, except for the same time, it is impossible for the three births, etc., to be the same. The mind has few associates. The unobscured and unspecified of the second dhyana and above do not arise from the ten omnipresent mental factors. He, in turn, the co-emergent cause of my eight is the ten grounds of the mind. Their forty characteristics. The mind's own four conforming characteristics and the four following characteristics. The mind itself is the co-emergent cause for my four, that is, its own conforming characteristics.
