As elaborately explained, acting with attachment to self, etc. The characteristic of the seventh ground is: it is related to the path of one vehicle and is definitely established as being without characteristics and one. The path of one vehicle is the eighth ground. Until one reaches that ground, the bodhisattvas' individual streams of effort, etc., are different, so the path is not one. After attaining the eighth ground, because of the spontaneous accomplishment in the equality of non-conceptual wisdom, there is no grasping at characteristics of effort and different streams, so the path of one vehicle is like rivers merging into the great ocean, having one taste. The seventh ground is related to the path of one vehicle, because the eighth ground is attained after it. At the time of attaining the seventh ground, the meaning of the sutras and other dharmas is also understood as being without characteristics and of one taste, and it is the path that is definitely one without characteristics in all aspects. The sutra says: 'O son of the Victorious One, for example, between a world realm that is completely afflicted and impure and a world realm that is extremely pure, one cannot cross at will without belonging to the power and strength of aspiration, means, wisdom, and superknowledge. O son of the Victorious One, similarly, between the mixed conduct and the completely pure conduct of a bodhisattva, one cannot cross at will without aspiration, means, wisdom, superknowledge, and the power and strength of wisdom.' This statement is the meaning of the seventh ground being related to the path of one vehicle. The meaning of being without characteristics and definitely one-sided is: The sutra says: 'Thus, when abiding on the seventh ground, the immeasurable actions of the body arise greatly, free from characteristics. The immeasurable actions of speech arise greatly, free from characteristics. The immeasurable actions of mind are extremely purified, free from characteristics, and the immeasurable actions that appear through the tolerance of the dharma of non-arising arise greatly.' The characteristic of the eighth ground is: it is spontaneously accomplished without characteristics and is not moved by effort, and it also purifies the Buddha-field, and in this way its characteristic is determined. When abiding on the eighth ground,

The wisdom of non-discrimination is spontaneously accomplished without effort, and it purifies the Buddha's realm, both the vessel and its contents. The sutra says: 'O sons of the Victorious Ones! Such a Bodhisattva who possesses such forbearance, immediately upon attaining the immovable ground of a Bodhisattva, obtains the profound and difficult-to-know, unmixed, free from all characteristics, immeasurable, turned away from all conceptual grasping, secluded, and unseizable by all Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, abode of a Bodhisattva, and achieves the manifestation of all seclusion. O sons of the Victorious Ones! This is like a monk who possesses miraculous powers,' and so on, extensively explained. Like entering cessation, without moving conceptual thoughts and consciousness, thus being free from all effort and activity of consciousness. And like a person deceived by sleep, dreaming of being carried away by a great river, and striving to escape from it, upon awakening, immediately being free from that effort. Likewise, thinking of saving sentient beings carried away by the four rivers of afflictions, and making great effort, but upon attaining the eighth ground, being free from all causes of effort for the sake of doing, and like a boat going to the ocean, needing to be propelled and moving forward until it reaches the ocean, but after reaching the ocean, not needing the encouragement of my wheel, but being able to move forward in the surroundings of the ocean. Thus, after reaching the eighth ground, entering into the omniscient wisdom without effort, such cannot be accomplished by past deeds done for the sake of doing. Thus, by the power of the spontaneously accomplished samadhi of non-discrimination, purifying the realm without effort, etc., is done. The sutra says: 'Accomplishing immeasurable births, purifying immeasurable realms, maturing immeasurable sentient beings,' and so on, as it is said. After attaining the eighth ground, the characteristic of the ninth ground is that, by obtaining the four analytical understandings, there is no obstacle in teaching the Dharma, thus being able to accomplish the maturation of all sentient beings, thus it is established. Thus, the sutra says: 'This Bodhisattva ground, possessing good wisdom'
