Those are the grounds. Eighth, there are four ways to attain the grounds: by gaining interest in the meaning of the Great Vehicle, one attains the ground of adhimukticarya; by attaining practice, one engages in the ten practices on that very ground of adhimukticarya; by attaining realization, from the first to the seventh, in order to realize the meaning of the Dharma; and by attaining accomplishment, which is the three pure grounds, in order to effortlessly accomplish non-conceptual wisdom. Thus, through the gateways of interest, practice, realization, and accomplishment, there are four categories of how to attain the grounds. If the practices in harmony with the aspects of enlightenment are extensively divided, they are immeasurable. In brief, for those beings who are interested in the Great Vehicle, there is the practice of the six perfections; for those who are interested in the Lesser Vehicle, there is primarily the practice of the thirty-seven aspects of enlightenment; in order to aspire for both to be the gateway of friendship, there is the practice of clairvoyance; and in order to tame and ripen those to be tamed, there is the practice of the four means of attraction. Thus, these four practices of a Bodhisattva, just as in the Sutra Requested by Ratnacuda, this treatise also follows the teachings of that sutra in its explanation. Thus, the stage of the nature of the Dharma of the grounds and paths in harmony with the aspects of enlightenment is summarized. The qualities of the fruit, the Great Enlightenment, which were previously explained, those verses of praise, are the way to attain the qualities of the fruit after traversing the ten grounds, between the four immeasurables and the qualities of the six perfections, and between the two verses that distinguish the characteristics of the Buddha ground. The praise of the four immeasurable qualities of the Buddha is generally shown by "always being compassionate to all sentient beings." Specifically, immeasurable love is the intention to wish sentient beings to encounter happiness, immeasurable compassion is the intention to wish them to be free from suffering, and immeasurable joy is the intention to wish them not to be separated from happiness, these three are the intention of happiness for sentient beings. Immeasurable equanimity is the intention to wish them to be without the afflictions of attachment and aversion, abiding in equanimity. Therefore, to you, Buddha, who has the intention of benefiting and bringing happiness to all sentient beings, I prostrate with great reverence through the three doors of body, speech, and mind.
