Observe, as it is said, such as the upright intention, the gentle intention, the workable intention, and so on. Or, in order to understand the meaning of each ground, contemplate and remember how the collections of names, words, and letters explain it, and this is remembering as it is. Thus, when remembering how the ground is established and accomplishing the ground, since the ground and all its establishments only appear as one's own mind, and there is no establishment as another meaning, those grounds are also without the object of grasping because they are known to be one's own discriminating thoughts. If there is no object of grasping, then one knows that the grasping itself is not established in that way, and therefore one does not discriminate the grasping. One should know that there is no grasping or being grasped and discriminate. Thus, by knowing the attention to each ground, and that it is only one's own mind, and that there is no grasping or being grasped, and accomplishing the first ground, etc., one should also meditate on all others in that way, and know that each ground is accomplished. Thus, the meditation and accomplishment of the grounds are inconceivable to ordinary people, because the grounds are to be known individually by the noble ones who have attained this and that, and because the establishment of those grounds is also the Dharma of the realm of activity of the Buddhas. Therefore, one should meditate on this and that for all the grounds, and the completion of meditation and the accomplishment of the grounds should also be known to be inconceivable to ordinary beings and Hearers and Solitary Realizers. As it is said in the Ratnakuta Sutra: Just as the tracks of birds in the sky are extremely difficult to see and cannot be spoken of, so too, the grounds of the Sugata's sons cannot be known by the realm of mind and consciousness. As it is said. Sixth, the signs of attaining the ground are divided into the signs themselves and the explanation of the qualities of the ground with signs. First, just as one knows water from water birds and fire from smoke, the explanation is how to know which ground is attained by which sign or mark. The five signs mentioned above are the common signs of Bodhisattvas who have and have not attained the ground, but here the ten signs of those who have attained the ground are explained. Whatever ground is attained, the objects to be abandoned, the objects to be adopted, and the Dharmas to be meditated upon of that ground, together with appearing clearly in the mind, and the faith and desire to attain the higher grounds, are the first sign or mark. Because of seeing the truth, it is profound.

Not being afraid or shrinking from the vast and profound Dharmas is the second point. Not being cowardly in mind towards any form of hardship and suffering, such as heat, cold, fatigue, etc., and the austerities and sufferings of giving away head and limbs, etc., without sorrow, and completely without turning back is the third point. By the power of the two accumulations, even though one has realized the nature of reality, one does not need to rely on others for whichever ground has been attained, therefore, the self-mastery of not relying on others for explaining its nature and meditating on its meaning is the fourth point. Even at the time of attaining the first ground, one has attained the skill of thoroughly understanding all the characteristics of accomplishing all the remaining grounds. By the power of abiding in non-conceptual wisdom in equipoise, in the post-meditation state, by means of pure worldly wisdom, one knows the means by which the remaining grounds can be accomplished, therefore, knowing the means to accomplish each of their superior grounds, the means for the first ground practitioner to enter the second ground, such as straightforwardness and gentleness, etc., are ten. The means for the second ground to enter the third ground, such as pure intention and unwavering intention, etc., are said to be ten. Likewise, for all the grounds, being extremely skilled in establishing the means to accomplish the superior ground is the fifth point. The equal mind that has no distinction between self and other for all limitless sentient beings is the sixth point. Not being led away means that those who have entered the grounds possess abundant accumulations of merit, and accumulations of wisdom that realize all phenomena as emptiness, therefore, they have no attachment or hatred towards anything. They are not arrogant with praise and happiness, nor are their minds dejected or depressed by dispraise and suffering, and they are not swayed by any circumstances, which is unled, is the seventh characteristic. Those who have entered the grounds possess the complete wealth of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who have transcended the world, therefore, they regard the enjoyments of Brahma, Indra, Wheel-Turning Kings, etc., as impure, and do not develop attachment to them, therefore, abandoning those, giving them to others, and causing them to ordain is the eighth point. And realizing the means to accomplish unsurpassed enlightenment, manifestly realizing non-conceptual wisdom in the three spheres is the ninth point. And for the benefit of sentient beings, by the power of aspiration, except for being born in world realms where Buddhas do not reside
